And the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See now, the place where we dwell with you is too small for us”. 2 Kings 6.1

A small desire is enough for a great divine operation to happen. However, we settle with our current situation and do not give space for the Lord to show Himself as our Father and Operator of Wonders. We must pay attention to what He makes us see. Undoubtedly, God speaks just as He did to Ezekiel, commanding him to look at the door of the court and asking him what he saw. The prophet noticed that there was just one hole, but when he dug into the wall, he saw all kinds of wicked abominations (Ezekiel 8.7-12).

Hannah felt that she should not have given the devil the pleasure of keeping her barren, being humiliated by her husband’s other wife. Then, God gave her Samuel as a great example. She had to open up her heart to the point of being considered a drunkard, but after she saw that beautiful boy being born, she was filled with joy and faith and gave him to the Most High. How much love she showed to the One who had mercy of her! As a consequence, the people of God had the leadership of a true pastor (1 Samuel 1:1-22).

The Church of Christ must remember that it is the Lord’s second “wife”, (the one from the Old Testament was the first), but the legitimate one now. Therefore, we know that the glory reserved for us is greater than the former one – of the Old Covenant – so it must surpass the wonders of the “Church” of the Old Testament, which prevailed against its enemies. Unfortunately, we have not seen this happening, for we have attended human interests and left the Lord´s interest behind. Certainly, we are not pleasing Him by doing so.

When we understand the Biblical examples and cry out for our rights, the power of God soon comes into operation and gives them to us. It is impossible to live in the flesh and please the Lord. Only when we please Him, He satisfies the desires of our hearts (Psalm 37:4). These are times in which we should spend time seeking for the heavenly Father and truly serving Him. If we do so, nothing will be denied to us.

One day, some disciples asked permission to Elisha to cut some trees and make a home for them, and one of them insisted the prophet to go with them. When they got to the Jordan River, they started working, but unexpectedly, an axe of one of them fell in the water. Then, Elisha, without any kind of material, altered the law of physics, and the axe floated (2 Kings 6.1-5). If this had not happened, we would not have the foundation to pray for something similar to happen today.

The axe had been borrowed, so the person that let it fell received the order to pick it up (2 Kings 6:7). Do not lose anything that you have been given or that has been lent to you. For a simple piece of iron, Elisha made one of the greatest miracles ever seen. Halleluiah!

God made David sigh for the waters in the well of Bethlehem, and thus, some of his servants had a chance to prove that they were valiant. Then, to supply for his want, they broke through the lines of the philistines and suffered no harm (1 Chronicles 11:17,18). Where are these kinds of workers, who are not afraid to go to the most dangerous places in our nation and reach out to a people for our Father? When the Lord sighs, we must consider it an order, as well as an empowerment to those who believe.

Our greatest battle must be to surrender our will before the Lord. If we do not renounce everything that we have, we cannot be disciples of the Master. We must take up our crosses (Mark 8:34)!

In Christ, with love,

Lord of great operations! We must watchful to the small desires that come from You, for they will be supplied by You and will enable us to see greater works. The examples from Your Word must be repeated whenever necessary.

We have a lot to learn from Hannah, from what she suffered and the faith that she had. She removed her shame and blessed Israel with a man that commanded the nation under Your direction. The people of the Old Testament would suffer a great loss – and so would we – without the life of Samuel.

The desire of a simple gulp of water showed David that he had loyal and valiant people next to him. Nothing hindered those men to bring Your servant that precious water. Elisha understood Your plan, and thus, we learn that we can annul a law of physics whenever it is needed. Amen!
