Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him. Luke 8:1

After the incident in the house of Simon the Pharisee, in which a sinful woman came crying behind the Master and with her tears wet his feet, kissed them and wiped them with her hair (Luke 7:38), Jesus went on to walk from city to city, village to village, preaching the Gospel, and the 12 disciples accompanied Him. Many think that Mary Magdalene, who was delivered of seven demons, was the sinner who entered Simon´s house. That´s a mistake! 

Luke quotes many women who followed the Master, naming three of them who were healed of evil spirits and infirmities. In gratitude for their deliverance, they followed Him and served Him with their goods. Learning from the Master, they would not have the house empty, so that the devil would send seven times more the number of demons that came out of them. As they followed Jesus, they would continue to be free, for they knew that God’s care is greater than imagined.

We need to have the Master as an example and receive those who need to be next to those who are used to deliver people of evil spirits and cure them of diseases and other evils. Sometimes, with sadness, we see that many freed from evil spirits are again suffering with the return of these and seven others, because they were not taught to remain steadfast in the faith. Now, these people are so precious to God! 

The Lord wants to move from town to town and village to village with us, but often we do not pay attention to it and try to do what we find most productive. Now, we must hear the Creator of all things, holding them in His power. By listening to the Most High, you learn to do the work properly and see your work approved. Those who are only listening to their own thoughts never do anything good for the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus did not go out to stroll, see opportunities for some business or some dirty purpose, but to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. On the day when this is not the reason that moves us to go to various places, we will have turned away from the mission given by the Master, and that is not good. We cannot be under the devil’s deception. Do not take your eyes off the deeds of Christ.

No doubt those women who were delivered from demons, like Mary Magdalene, would learn from the Lord. The disciples went with Him, and this shows that it was not only an excursion of ladies restored by the Master, but also of daughters of God, who found in Jesus the solution to their problems. They knew they would be blessed, for their hearts cried out for more of the Lord.

There were instances where Christ did not let some people who were delivered to go with Him, like the former Gadarene demon possessed. Although he had been possessed by a legion of evil spirits, he was already prepared to go out and tell of the great things that God had accomplished. The Lord knows how to restore each of the damages caused by a demonic possession.
