06/03/2014 - REMOVE THE STONES FROM YOUR HEART

But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. Matthew 13.20,21

One of the most important attitudes that we may have is to clean our hearts from the sorrow and the unpleasant acts that offend us. The Sower tosses the seed, and it is up to us to have our terrain ready for the seed to develop its task. On the contrary, the responsibility for not happening as the Lord planned will be exclusively ours.

If our soil is filled with stones, even though we might have received the seed with great joy, its growth will have a short duration. Every time the seed falls in our heart, it may make us glad, but if there are obstacles, it will not accomplish its task. Our joy must be complete, and nothing must take it away from us. Thus, it is good to remove the stones from our heart so that there are no obstacles.

It is not enough to understand the Word and receive it with joy. If things that are obstacles are not removed, the divine seed will not grow completely. Bitterness, grudges, resentment, hatred and other sorrowful things from every day hinder the prosperity given by God through His Word in your life. Thus, although you might have received a great blessing, because of these feelings, you will not be able to see the divine work fully complete.

The Word of God needs to be rooted in our lives in order to fulfill everything it is meant to do. Therefore, if the soil of our heart does not facilitate the root’s penetration, having small stones in it, the seed will not go deep and will burn. Then, joy will not last much, and the symptoms of our torments will return. The Lord sends the seed so that it might produce fruits that will last for all eternity.

The Bible warns us that not always we will have good times (Jo 16.33b). The forces of Hell will make all they can for the sons of God not to live as the Father has determined. Thus, in most cases, our friends will leave us, and our relatives will not approve our decision of seeking to live in God’s presence. However, this is not their fault. The truth is that distress and persecution are necessary for us to growth in faith.

This is why when someone is offended by something that happened to him, it is a proof that his terrain is filled with stones. However, for those who have a good soil in their heart, it does not matter what people do. Even if they harm them, they will never abandon their faith in Jesus. Those who get offended show that they have not prepared the terrain for the precious and powerful seed from the Father.

In Christ, with love,
