08/08/2017 - REPEATING THE FATHER’S MISTAKE

And the men of the place asked about his wife. And he said, “She is my sister”; for he was afraid to say, “She is my wife,” because he thought, “lest the men of the place kill me for Rebekah, because she is beautiful to behold. Genesis 26:7

He who is in Christ is a new creature, so he should not imitate or repeat anyone’s mistake, as the Spirit of God is in him. It is crucial to allow one’s self to be guided by the Holy Spirit, so as not to make choices or decisions that will cause any great harm. The biblical examples should be accepted and lived; otherwise the door will stay open to the entrance of the forces of darkness.  In Christ you will never walk where the enemy can reach, touch or destroy you.

We need not fear he who kills the flesh and then can do no more. Unfortunately, when faith has not yet developed as it should, some people place higher value on a few more years on Earth than all eternity in the world of perfection. Because of this thinking, often times, they stumble, fall and are forever lost.  What really matters is to be standing before the Lord, at all times and during times of trial and tribulations, no matter how difficult and resistant these may be.

The crises of the world cause people to behave in absurd ways. Many times they have not yet felt the consequences which have yet to reach them and they are already impatient concerning even future events.  We must observe the birds and the lilies of the field (Matthew 6:26-30) for example, because the one who sustains and clothes them is the One we have as our Father and He has no restriction or limitation in operating in our favor.  The Lord wants to bless you, supply your needs and heap blessings on you.

Could it be that the careful Isaac, when he went to the fields to pray, did he also cry out to God for direction with regards to those days of famine in his land?  Notice that he was ready to go to Egypt to find food, but God told him otherwise.  Never be caught short with any need but always be in communion with the Father, and you will always see His supply.

The Lord forbade Isaac to go down to Egypt, showing he should live where God had chosen for him to live.  This is an indication that he was not in communion with God in those days.  It is easy to stray from our shepherd; we have only to fill ourselves up with doubts concerning our future. They who live in the presence of the Most High will never lack instructions or directions and at the same time, in moments of trials this person will be like a spring of living whose waters do not fail (Isaiah 58:11). When the Lord is your Shepherd, nothing will be lacking or missing to you (Psalm 23:1).

Rebekah was very close to being taken to Abimelech’s bed (Genesis 26:10), but before that happened, God showed the philistine king that she was Isaac’s wife.  Why hasn’t God done the same today?  Or has He?  How many women and men have steeped themselves in adultery and later, for not having sincerely repented, will be forever condemned?  There are cases like these of people who are in church or even in ministry. Spiritual death is the worst that can happen to anyone.

The lessons good for Isaac are still good for any of us today. Those who have their spouse in the hands of the wicked should not let sadness invade their hearts, because the Lord is the restorer of that which has been stolen.  Their honor is having God at their side.  What do you say?

In Christ, with Love,

Lord, our Guardian! We need to grow in faith and I Your love, to have You as our Guard, which cares for us in detail, and keeps the enemy’s hand from reaching us.  You are Protection, Justice, and Support.  Halleluiah!

We pray for those who have wronged us. That they may be delivered from oppressions, because all that they suffer is a foretaste of what they will experience eternally. Our desire is that they be delivered, coming to experience through repentance.  Thank you!

Look over those who suffer lack of wisdom, giving them the light to deliver them from darkness, where they are taken by sin.  This way, they will stand before You on the Great Day! That Your hand may deliver them. Amen!
