03/11/2016 - REST FROM ALL YOUR ENEMIES

But when you cross over the Jordan and dwell in the land which the Lord your God is giving you to inherit, and He gives you rest from all your enemies round about, so that you dwell in safety. Deuteronomy 12.10

The Israelites were taken from captivity to Canaan under the divine orientation, but they would still have to cross over the Jordan in order to dwell in the land that flowed milk and honey. Likewise, those who accept Jesus as Savior are drawn from the kingdom of darkness, yet if they are not born again – cross the Jordan –, they will not be part of the Kingdom of God. See what is your Jordan and cross it.

After crossing the river towards the Land of Promise, they would have to fight against the nations that occupied that land for hundreds or thousands of years. This shows that only the bold take hold of the Kingdom of Heaven. The Israelites had to follow the orders that they were going to receive. After they entered Canaan, they had to expel all the inhabitants and occupy it. Do the same in the Gospel!

It was true that God would make them inherit that land, but they had not yet possessed it. In order to possess it, they had to pay attention to the Lord’s instructions. In order to take possession of the Kingdom, everyone needs to complete the cycle of rebirth – repentance, baptism in the waters and in the Holy Spirit. 

Those who dwell in the Kingdom of God can experience rest in regards to the enemies around them. Thus, they cannot be touched or destroyed any longer by the evil one, considering that they do not fall away from the Word. Those who are connected to the Most High become one with Him. Since the Lord is a Consuming Fire, once we are saved, we become members of this Fire, and the devil cannot touch us any longer. Faith in Christ is a beautiful thing, isn’t it true?

The promise that served for the Israelites that they would dwell in safety once they entered in Canaan was a warning of what would happen to us when we entered the Gospel, the Land of Promise. Today, there is no way how we can be oppressed by the devil, dominated by his temptations, or fall in his traps. The Lord keeps us safe from all evil, but in order for this to happen, we must set ourselves apart from all sins.

As we believe in Jesus, we start to live in the Kingdom of God, and then, even though the enemy might try to attack us, we can feel safe that the hand of God will not allow him to touch us. There is a clear division between those who are saved and those who are still under the influence of the evil one. The responsible for this division is the one who accepts salvation, because for it to be real, they must assume their place in the Lord.

Our rest is real, for the Wall of Fire keeps us safe. However, if we leave the good path, something bad will happen to us. Strengthen yourself in the faith day after day, and when any evil comes, rebuke it immediately in the Name of Jesus.
