You have caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; but You brought us out to rich fulfillment. Psalm 66:12

The past of every human being is sad. As slaves of the devil, we are afflicted in every possible and even unimaginable ways. We have been treated in the same way that the Egyptians treated the Israelites in biblical times. The Egyptian bondage was physical; ours, however, is spiritual. In those days the pain was such that the Lord compared it to men riding on the Israelites’ heads. The Lord’s people had to go through fire and water, but after their deliverance they were brought out to rich fulfillment.

In our case, the salvation that Jesus accomplished for us brought us to a new birth. Through His divine work we were completely recreated. Now, we are no longer under sin because when Christ shed His blood for us He bought us back to Himself. One must believe in this truth and claim for this blessing. This is the only way you will no longer be oppressed by the forces of darkness.

In the new birth, our spirit is recreated in Jesus without the flaws that Adam’s sin caused us, but it does not mean that all of a sudden the virtues of Christ are already working in us. We must persevere in following the Master so that we grow until we reach the measure of the stature of the fullness of Jesus. Therefore, do what the Word tells you and you will be transformed into the very image of God.

Now, if the wrong thoughts are coming back and the evil desires start to find a place in your heart again, be quick to rebuke them and do not let your soul yield to them. Do not accept anything that might get you out of your noble position in the Son of God. In any situation, stand fast in the liberty by which Christ has made free all those who believe in Him (Galatians 5:1).

Those who do not act as true Christians will go through the fire and water of ordeals again. Some are always taking medications or having some kind of problem, and even though they are kept from enjoying the abundant life that Jesus brought to them, they do not wake up to the fact that the way they lead their lives are a proof that they are not serving the Lord. With Jesus we have joy and freedom all the time!

In the Gospel there is no such thing as scarcity or wicked operations. Those who are undergoing ordeals and whose life – or the life of their loved ones – is being plagued by mishaps must examine themselves to see whether they have hidden sins or have amends to make, after all in the Gospel we have bountiful abundance. The best way to glorify the Lord is to enjoy the abundance of the Promised Land!

In Christ with love,
