And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham;

Luke 19:9

What happened in Jesus’ visit to Zacchaeus’ house, the tax collector, can happen in your household if you let God’s Spirit work. Judging from the way that collector talked with the Lord we can infer he was dishonest. The work that changed that man’s fate forever began when he gave ear to those who spoke of the Son of God and as a result the desire to meet the Master arose in his heart and he set out in search of Him.

Zacchaeus knew Jesus was passing through his town but could not see Him because he was of short stature, so he ran ahead of everyone, climbed up into a sycamore tree and waited for the Master to pass that way. All he wanted was to see the man who performed miracles, who had the solution to all problems and whose fame had spread. The tax collector did not know that God had prepared for him something more than allowing him to see His Son: the Almighty wanted to save his life and that of his family.

The Lord wants everyone to be saved; that is why He sent His Only Begotten Son to die for mankind. If Jesus paid such a high price, what wouldn’t He do so that everyone can have the opportunity to get rid of their sins and be redeemed? When the Master passed by the tree He looked up and told Zacchaeus that He was going to stay at his house.

Apparently it was all he could hope to get from Jesus, but the Lord had more for him: He wanted to take salvation to Zacchaeus’ whole family. Undoubtedly, God does not want to see your family treading diverse paths; after all, there is only one way worth walking: God’s way. Your willingness to draw near to the Father in order to solve your problem is a sign that He is acting in your life.

The Pharisees protested because Jesus would go to a publican’s house, but He knew what He was doing there. Likewise, the Lord knows what He can do in your life; therefore, do not hide anything from the One who has the power to change your fate. This is the best time of your life because your desire to meet the Most High and to walk the path of good proves that you are destined to be happy.

Once he found himself before the Lord, Zacchaeus summoned courage to confess his sins and, based on what was written in the law, he decided to return what he had taken from the people. Then Jesus said that on that day salvation had come to his house.

Don´t ever fail to make your decisions based on what is written; in so doing, not only you, but your loved ones will be saved and accepted into God’s family.
