29/01/2016 - SEEING THE WAR

Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, “Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.” Exodus 13:17

The withdrawal of the Israelites from Egypt was an act planned and executed by God thousands of years ago, according to His foreknowledge and His power. It represents our deliverance from the empire of darkness, when we would be set free from the kingdom of evil. Today, all the person needs to do is to listen to the preaching of the Word and accept Jesus as Savior for them to be delivered from the devil´s slavery. However, the effects of such deliverance will take place day by day.

The way used by the Omniscient to lead His people to Canaan, in the natural world, was the longest one, but it was the right one, so that the children of Israel did not go back to Egypt because of the war. If that represented our way out from the kingdom of hell, the choice of this path helps us understand why God does not grant us what we want sometimes. The answer is that He knows all things.

Satan cannot bind the person who listens to the Word, but, without a doubt, he will do all he can for the person to panic with his threats. When the people were heading towards the Red Sea, Pharaoh gathered his army and went up against the Israelites, because he thought they were lost, and thus, he could have them back as slaves to make his bricks. However, what took place was the defeat of the sovereign and his mighty army (Exodus 14).

The children of Israel could have been taken by the path used by the philistines, reaching Canaan through a normal journey in 11 days. However, they needed to spend more time in the presence of God in order not to be deceived by the devil. Likewise, we have to remain a longer period of time under the Holy Spirit´s instruction, so that we will not despair during battles that will certainly present themselves.

It is incomprehensible for someone to repent being in the Kingdom of God. However, just like in those days, today, many weak people will decide to go back to captivity. There are people that only think of the present moment, in the matters that give them certain pleasure, and when they are tempted, they go back to sin. Although they knew how much they suffered in the evil prison, they rather suffer for eternity than to fight the wars of the Lord.

When the battle of holiness breaks out, the dissolution of the home is imminent. Many people don’t think twice and take the foulest decision. Of course it is not easy to be under the same roof with those who have betrayed, or continue lying, and if possible, will do everything once again. Therefore, do not stop walking until you reach celestial Canaan; even if you are weeping, keep on going, for you will be bringing your sheaves with you (Psalm 126:6).

It was the Lord, who is love and wise in all things, Who led them through the longer path. However, instead of learning the lessons and taking hold of the new land, they murmured and did not believe in God. That is why they wandered in the desert for more than 40 years.

In Christ, with love,

Lord, our Guide! How many times, because we dont understand Your plan, we get upset and we rise up against Your plans and speak what we should not. Now, we understand the reason why of so many long walks and we ask for mercy.

When we are not firm and rooted in You, the war can take us back to the old master. However, once we are set free by Your wonderful classes, we wish to walk until celestial Canaan and meet You there.

Don’t allow us to go back to Egypt, for we don’t want to be under the whip of the enemy nor work for him. Our will is to serve You, for, this way, we will truly be free. Thank You for Your lessons.
