11/09/2018 - SHAMMAH REMOVED THE SHAME OF ISRAEL

And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines had gathered together into a troop where there was a piece of ground full of lentils. So the people fled from the Philistines. 2 Samuel 23: 11

The Israelites began to establish themselves with one nation, and the enemy succeeded in making the heirs of the promise of God flee from the Philistines. Though God assured that He would be with His people, the devil spread rumors that frightened the weak in faith. So they escaped without anyone pursuing them. A similar thing has happened today. Therefore, we must preach the Truth.

The Philistines formed a multitude, but what would that be to the people who had the promises of the Most High? But because they did not know what to do, the sons of Jacob fell threatened by the multitude that rose against them. Now, what could Satan do against those who were part of God’s covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob?

Speaking of David’s heroes fills us with hope and readiness to fight and overcome evil. Just as the Lord enabled them to face the enemies, He has given us power to shame the agents of Hell. We do not need to fear them nor accept their evils, because they were defeated by Jesus our Savior.

The Philistines were no match for those who had the Most High as God. Today, the same can be said of the devil, which many fear. How could he touch those who trust in the Lord? The Philistines looked like an army of children: as soon as they saw a field full of lentils, they gathered themselves together in a crowd. But the Israelites did worse: when they saw the Philistines gathering there, they fled from them. What a shame! Unbelievable!

Numerous times, we act like the descendants of the valiant Jacob, who walked with the Lord and did not fear the enemy. With wisdom and in the fear of his father Isaac, the supplanter brought into his hand, without shedding blood or fighting with the physical weapons, the loss he had suffered in his mother´s womb. We can learn several lessons from this victory.

When he saw what was happening, Shammah the son of Agee, acted as a servant of God: one who knows his rights to fight the wars of the Lord and, by believing in Him, is not defeated. He went to the same piece of land chosen by the enemy of his people, stood in the middle of that part of their inheritance and defended it. His attitude teaches us how to act; after all, God had given that region to them, not to the Philistines.

The intrepidity of this man made the Almighty strengthen him and make him triumph, working a great deliverance. When we believe in what the Scriptures declare to be ours and we defend our rights, the Almighty will honor us, because we honor Him.

In Christ with love,

God, Operator of great deliverances! Thank You for the lessons Your servants gave us when facing and defeating the enemy. We believe that You put this in the Scriptures so that we would do as they did and defeat the forces of evil.

We often think that the works of the enemy are difficult to destroy, because of what they appear to be. Like on that day when they settled in a field of lentils, today we can defeat them, because they are based on nothing.

Like Shammah, we can stand in the middle of the piece that they think is appropriate to attack and give our adversaries the example that if we defend what You have given us, we will defeat evil. Then, everyone will know that You worked a great deliverance in our favor.
