come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and it happen, in the event of war, that they also join our enemies and fight against us, and so go up out of the land.” Exodus 1:10

After Joseph’s death, the sons of Israel multiplied and increased in Egypt so that the Hebrews were to be seen everywhere.  This was the will of God being done.  In our present days in many nations there is a wakening to Truth.  However the Hebrews forgot the Lord and the enemy persecuted them.  These days, when the saved turn away from seeking the Almighty, their glory diminishes and Satan’s guile appears and prevails.  Mercy!

A new king who knew not Joseph was enthroned in Egypt.  He didn’t recognize how important Jacob’s son had been to the vitality and existence of that nation.  Therefore the devil made the new king see   the Israelites were more prosperous than the Egyptian and frightened the king.  This can happen again today, for in time if the saved lose touch with the Lord, they will lose His protection too.  Consequently the workings of the powers of darkness will crop up among them.

The Pharaoh recognized nothing good, only bad in the power of Jacob’s descendants for should there be a war, the Hebrews would join with Egyptian enemies and destroy the Pharaoh’s people. Therefore the Pharaoh met with the most powerful in his empire to use their guile against the Hebrew.  The excuse is always the same.  What the devil hates more than anything is to see the saved advancing in God’s work and leading the lost to salvation.  It is wrong to not be in touch through communion with the Lord.

First the Egyptians raised higher taxes to oppress the Hebrews and built cities of treasures: Pithom and Ramses. The purpose was to block the growth of the chosen people.  However, the more the people of Israel were challenged or opposed the more they grew and multiplied, which worried the Egyptians even more.  There is no way to hold God’s people back, because He always shows them a way out and this way they continue to prosper.  There is a divine purpose in all those who are saved.  Amen!

On the one hand, things did get worse for God’s chosen as they were forced into slavery under the Pharaoh into extreme hardship!  Would this last forever?   This would certainly not last forever, if they would only return to the Lord and cry out for freedom.  He would deliver and free them from bondage in slavery. Many people err in not seeking the Omnipotent in their difficult moments when everything seems impossible with no apparent way out.  But Jesus is our perfect way out!

When the saved abandon the Almighty the enemy sees what he should not and knows how to oppress them.  But, if they repent and return to commune with the Almighty, who makes peace among adversaries, something glorious will occur.  If you are in distress there is only one Solution, one narrow Door and one Straight Path, to take you to the presence of God.  That Door is your escape. Use it!

Satan’s evil knows no limits.  Pharaoh ordered the midwives to kill all new born males.  He didn’t know he was being used by the devil to prevent the advent of the Messiah as do many who combat the Truth.  But there is no power than can defeat the Lord!
