22/10/2018 - SUCH A GREAT EARTHQUAKE

Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed. Acts 16:26

Instead of complaining continuously against God, for having allowed their prison, Paul and Silas tried to get close to the Lord through prayers and hymns. No doubt, they did not expect that the Father would answer them with such great earthquake, but they knew that in some way He would do His great work.  We do not receive more from the Almighty because we do not ask.  In truth we must believe in the biblical example and expect divine intervention.

When persecuted due to your faith, do not surrender to the devil of feat, but with confidence confess what God has done and believe that He knows what happens in your life. Never behave like a coward or abandon the Lord. Seek to be ever closer to Him. You draw nearer to the Father when you believe in His ability to deliver you from adversities.  This will be a lesson for all other believers.

Inside the prison, Paul and Silas adored and worshipped God, singing hymns and crying out to Him.  The time had arrived for the Lord to intervene.  While they adored Him they saw the divine hand produce such a great tremor, giving them the chance to prove that the Almighty had not abandoned them.  The Lord is the same today, as He was in the past and will eternally and forever be (Hebrews 13:8), so believe in His extraordinary performances.  God’s main goal is salvation for all.

The Bible assures and guarantees that no work done in the Lord and under His direction will be in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58). We will conclude successfully the mission entrusted to us. Surrender to Him but if He gives you instructions according to the Scriptures, believe them for they will be fulfilled.  The Almighty’s vision is complete, and He acts and moves so that the Gospel reaches the most distant corners of the world.  Halleluiah!

Their cry and their praise provoked a great earthquake.  Such prodigious feats had occurred on other occasions and will happen to whoever allows God to use them. A few days earlier, in Jerusalem, when the disciples cried out to the Lord due to the persecution by the authorities of Israel, God responded by moving the place where they were gathered.  Where are these beautiful acts of God in these days?

God’s earthquake does not cause material damage or ends lives, but opens doors and loosens band that bind us to our suffering.  All that He does is good; so when something brings a scent of evil or loss to the mission or the people, even the lost, be careful!  For certain the hand of the enemy is behind this.  The disciples wanted to bring down fire over the Samaritans and were reprimanded by the Master.

The outcome of this great earthquake was the salvation of the jail keeper and his household.  Paul and Silas did not take advantage of the quake to flee, but they understood that in those circumstances there was a purpose and a message from God: He has the power and uses it for the good of His own.

In Christ, with Love,

God of great missions! Why fear the unknown, if we have Your Word that You will protect us.  You allow us to go through some trials so that in the end You will be magnified by Your feats.  You will never leave us.

How could an earthquake happen only within the limits of the prison? Why didn’t it come before the apostles were jailed and whipped.  You know better than we do, so teach us to live by faith.

Use us so that Your mission is carried out according to plan. We must be at Your side, to see You at work.  Then the doors will open for us, with or without earthquakes.  We thank You for guiding us in triumph.  We love You!
