I will keep thy statute; Oh do not forsake me utterly. Psalm 119:8

Do not despair and do not allow doubt to enter your heart.  The Lord Jesus forewarned us that even as we observed divine statutes we would face tribulations.  Due to them we think God has abandoned us.  This will never happen because the trials we face are never greater than our capacity to withstand them.  It is important to say what we say exactly as we believe in our own hearts, meditating on every word.

The Holy Spirit having descended on Jesus when He was baptized in the Jordan River, took him to the desert to be tempted by the devil.  The same must happen to us.  Just as when in schools the subject matter is taught and then we are tested to confirm what and how much we have learned from the lessons.  We must remember that as we are saved we become laborers of God’s righteousness; this way, we will not be put to shame.

The Lord warned us we would have tribulations in the world but we need not worry and must be of good cheer because He has overcome the world (John 16:33).  This shows we can suffer through anxious moments when it seems we have been abandoned by the Omnipotent.  However, because we have received the heavenly power, we have the authority to rebuke any and all evil and declare ourselves to be delivered. The Christian will suffer only if he is in sin or does not recognize what the Savior has done for him.

James says we must rejoice in our trials because these trials produce patience and when the work of patience is perfected we will be complete (James 1.1-4).  Observe God’s statutes, analyze and meditate on each one.  This way your spirit will be enlightened and faith will manifest growing in your inner being.  With it you will defeat the devil.

Many Christians seem like children that are spoiled and scared.  When oppositions rise up against their convictions, even though insignificant, they soon despair.  Some abandon the Almighty and favor the desires of the flesh.  If they feared Him they would not be misled by Satan’s lies and deceptions, and steady in faith they would not retreat at all from their position in Jesus Christ.

After having been tempted, Jesus was served by the angels (Matthew 4:11). What a beautiful image! Consider if this were to happen to us.  This is exactly how we are treated by God.  All those that face and bear their temptations to overcome them are ministered and served by divine power.  When we say we must fight the principalities and authorities, the princes of darkness of this world and the spiritual hosts of evil in the heavenly realms, the Omnipotent is affirming and declaring that we are at war.

The psalmist understood that there were moments when he would be partially abandoned.  Those who observe and obey the Lord’s statutes do right, but face situations and undergo  sufferings that lead them to believe that they were left by Him who said he would not forsake them completely.  Now, God promised to never permit the temptation to be greater than our ability to withstand them.  He always prepares an escape for us. (1 Corinthians 10:13)  Amen!

In Christ with Love,

God, You said you would never forsake us, but as the psalmist said, there are times when You leave us for a moment, to test what we have learned from You and to be approved.

We have to obey Your statutes, know the laws that rule and guard us – since nothing will separate us from You – not even the trials.  Father, protect and care for us like a budding little plant giving us healthy growth so we can do Your will.

Help us to carry out the mission You gave us.  Our generation has been bombarded with the most lethal weapons from Hell and many have succumbed, been defeated and fallen into temptation. As a result, their suffering is great.  Thank You for guarding and helping us.
