Arise, O Lord, confront him, cast him down; deliver my life from the wicked with Your sword. Psalm 17.13

David’s prayer was inspired by the Lord and answered on the day that Jesus defeated the devil on the cross. We were redeemed from his evil claws, and at the same time, accepted into the Kingdom of the Son of God. Now, as citizens of the Heavens, we do not have to fear the evil one’s threats, for since we accepted the salvation granted by the Most High, we are seated with Christ in the heavenly places (Eph 2.6). Forever we are saved from the power of evil.

Our spiritual position cost Jesus a great suffering. As we know, He was God like the Father, and in order to come to this world and deliver us from death – Satan’s own nature –, He had to leave His divinity, take our form as a man, and pay the price of our redemption. On the cross, He experienced death twice – being separated from God, which is the spiritual death, and after, the physical death. Because of our sins, He was separated from the Father!

When Jesus, still on the cross, was separated from the Father, He experienced going down to Hell. The demons celebrated His presence there, but they did not know what He would do there. Thus, our Savior fought with the devil, taking back from this evil creature our rights. He suffered our infirmities, pains, transgressions, iniquities, and the punishment that brings us peace (Is 53.4,5). Only after everything was consummated, the Lord Jesus was able to shout His victory and surrender His spirit in the hands of the Father (Luke 23.46). In the third day, the Holy Spirit went to the kingdom of death and revived the body of Christ. Now, the powers of darkness were not expecting for this, so they were totally ashamed and defeated (Col 2.15).

The Lord rose from the dead and resurrected. This work is one of great importance for us, for we have been made alive and resurrected with Him (Eph 2.5,6). What Jesus experienced for defeating the kingdom of evil, we will also experience if we believe in Him. Everything that He did was to “pay our own account”, and due to His sacrifice, we are no longer poor sinners, but the justice of God in Christ.

Jesus detained the enemy, tying him completely under His power. Therefore, the devil cannot walk around doing whatever he wants. As for us, we have been made authorities, in the Name of Jesus, to rebuke the works of the devil and expel the demons in those under their attacks. Our victory over the forces of darkness is complete. Being so, we should not let anything, absolutely nothing from the enemy to be attached to us.

In the work in the Calvary, Jesus overthrew the devil of the position he had taken from Adam, which allowed him to act as if he were our master. The Savior deprived him completely of this capacity, leading captivity captive, and at the same time, giving gifts to man (Eph 4.8). Nowadays, anyone can freely make the decision of not serving the evil one any longer and turn to the good side. It was a great work done in our favor!

By the sword of the Spirit, the Word, the Lord redeemed our souls from the hands of this wicked and evil creature. Today, since we are in Christ, we do not have to submit ourselves any longer to the will of the devil. Therefore, renounce everything bad that is in your soul, body, or spirit. In the Name of Jesus, you will decide what you will be or have. Halleluiah!

In Christ, with love,

Victorious Lord! What a story! Your beloved Son rose victoriously, for after he suffered our evil, He “tied” the devil so he would not do us further evil. Our deliverance is real, and therefore, we worship and praise You!

Since we have been saved, we are freed from the operations of the deceiver. However, since many do not know the Truth, they are subject to the temptations. We must preach the Good News in order that the lost might not be involved with religious fables.

Christ overthrew and deprived the enemy from the authority he obtained since the fall of Adam. Thus, we can declare ourselves freed, for our soul was redeemed and taken from the hands of the wicked. Thank You! In You, we are truly free.
