30/07/2017 - THE DECEPTION OF SIN

Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve the lineage of our father. Genesis 19:32

Lot did not think about his daughters when he decided to go to Sodom. He chose what seemed good to him, but he was careless with the Lord’s inheritance. Once his daughters were there, they were exposed to immoral filth, and after some time, what was considered sinful didn’t seem wrong anymore. Thus, it was easy for the devil to fill the hearts of those women with the excuse of having the lineage of their father preserved, through a demoniac plan.

Everything that Lot wanted was to prosper, by all means. When he saw Abraham, his uncle, making some decisions, he did not feel they were the right ones. Soon enough his own shepherds started discussing with his uncle’s shepherds. No one falls without a reason; it happens when someone neglects the Word of the Lord. At the first sign of the enemy’s attack, rebuke evil in the Name of Jesus and send temptation away, or else you will truly fall.

Lot’s daughters learned with the inhabitants of Sodom about not having limits. What mattered to them was to be fulfilled, at whatever cost. It is possible that in that city, Lot could find a widow, or a single woman with whom he could marry. Or even, he could marry with someone from another city, or with someone from his kin. An abyss calls for another (Psalm 42). Since he gave space for the demon of greed, other demons came and defeated him. Be careful! Do everything you can not to sin!

Since Lot’s daughters did not truly fear God, but only had religious knowledge, they became engaged with unbelievers, who did not follow them in the day when they left the city. Therefore, they gave the excuse that the father could not be left without an inheritance. Would their mother, if she was still alive, still have another child from Lot? The devil always puts in the hearts of those who don’t fear God an excuse to sin. Then, they foolishly obey the enemy. After the mistake comes the consequence!

Now, Abraham sent his most experienced servant to go to his native land to find a wife for Isaac, his son (Genesis 24:4). He could not accept anything to go wrong in his lineage. Whoever does not care for the name of God’s servant will always be in trouble. Whoever has faith in Jesus is prepared to be taken up with Him, but must be watchful and resist every time that the enemy comes to assault him. The devil has nothing else to lose, but you do. Amen?

The two nations that came from that incest proved that Lot was a good negotiator, but a bad master, for he did not manage to save anyone from sin in Sodom. On the contrary, sin entered into the hearts of his daughters to the point of leading them to extreme madness. If you are not watchful or do not seek relationship with God, the same can happen to you and your relatives. Do not be deceived, the evil one walks about like a roaring lion (1 Peter 5:8). Do not let him find you!

Never negotiate with the Lord. Submit yourself to His orientations. His will is infinitely better than yours. He is the Light and only operates in the light, so He can guide us in all things. It is through the Light that we will see the light, but if we stand far from it, we will stumble all the time. Therefore, what is the reason to walk in the darkness if Jesus is the Light of life? Where are you walking? Wake up!

In Christ, with love,

God, true Guide! Why do we also try, many times, to negotiate with You, if You are perfect and wise in all senses? We should not forget that You are Omniscient and perfect. Why should we bargain to have the worst, if you have the best for us?

When Lot discovered about the attitude of his daughters, he must have seen that his choice was not good. The choice that he made to have the plains of Sodom was an act of shrewdness, for he knew that Patriarch Abraham was the one who had the blessing and should be respected on his decision.

May we never choose to be out of Your plan. We do not want to see evil in our lives. We do not want to lose like Lot did, when his savings, goods, and pasture were consumed by the fire of Heaven. May our riches be our works of faith!
