09/12/2018 - THE DECEPTION OF THOSE WHO SUBMIT NOT TO GOD

Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” Acts 19:13

There are people who are evil with themselves and their neighbors!  The case of the sons of Sceva, the main priest, proves that they had evil purposes in their hearts.  Probably they were convicted by the Lord, like the man whom the disciples forbid to expel demons in the Name of Jesus.  Nevertheless, the followers of Christ were warned by Him. The Master declared this as He reproached them:  For he who is not against us is on our side (Mark 9:40)

The seven youths witnessed Paul expelling filthy spirits from the people.  But they erred instead of joining the apostle to learn the will of God.  According to the plan of the Lord for Salvation, they would have to go through various steps: repentance of their sins, baptism in the waters and the baptism of the Holy Spirit.  In view of this, if they were sent by the Almighty, they would work in favor of the oppressed and would be compensated at the return of Jesus.

The sons of Sceva, instead of entering through the Door, proved their meanness using other means of entry – jumping through the window, over the walls or through tunnels – without being born anew. In modern times, many see in the work of God an opportunity for getting rich or to be a politician; so that when elected they think that they can do wrong things.  The destiny of those who do not want to submit to the Lord but to the devil is indeed a sad one.

Those youths perceived that the evil spirits could be expelled by them, but they saw no need to convert to the Kingdom of God and to enter it.  Nevertheless, taken by greed and envy, one of the worst demons ever, they were led to commit even worse sins and crimes.  Those that envy anything surrender to Satan and are capable of killing, stealing or betraying with an impressive composure.

There is a difference in one who serves the Lord and one who serves himself from God.  We have to prepare ourselves to be presented to God as approved laborers, who have nothing to be ashamed of, knowing how to use the Sword of the Spirit ( 2 Timothy 2:15). Many trials crop up in the path of God’s servants, but he is delivered from them all.  It is important not only to be a champion but to end the course undefeated.  The glory is God’s!

We have to be very careful with regards to the last Day, when the angels of God will separate humanity in two groups.  Those to the right of the Master will hear Him say welcome to the Kingdom prepared for them since the foundation of the world, but those who are at His left will hear Him call them cursed and ordered to march to  the eternal fire (Matthew 25:31-46).  Many will cry out and complain, but Jesus will declare that He never knew them.

It is a tremendous feeling of pleasure to walk in holiness owing nothing to the devil.  Those who stray have no peace which is already a foretaste of the suffering to be for all eternity.  The sons of Sceva would not have suffered shameful defeat if they had loved the Lord.  What do you say about yourself?

In Christ, with Love,

Lord!  It was not Your name that was shamed in Ephesus but  that of those who did not belong to You and wanted to enjoy the rights of Your servants.  Why be led away bay greed if it is much more rewarding to serve You?

Help us to keep our eyes on You and to call You Father, cry out for Your help and be aided at the right moment.  Deliver those who have fallen into temptation so that the crown be not removed from their heads.

We want to fight the good fight to the end and declare that faith and holiness are still with us as well as the certainty of the crown of righteousness that You gave us, oh Eternal King.  We pray for those who have gone astray to return to Your paths!
