10/01/2016 - THE DECISION AND CONSEQUENCES ARE YOURS

It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found. Luke 15.32

The prodigal son did not understand that those who leave God’s presence walk towards their perdition. Thus, before the great Day, he had a vision of what expected him after death. The weak are led by temptations, but they do not see that the large door has many offers that do not serve for anything. Whoever listens to the devil will one day see that they trusted in the father of lies (Jo 8.44), and therefore, became a candidate to be eternally destroyed.

Those who walk away from the Lord die for the good, for prudence, and for God; soon, their state will be miserable. When the prodigal son sinned with orgies, he did not imagine what was about to happen to him. Whatever abnormality there is, may it be prostitution, drugs, robbery or any other thing that is apparently attractive, it is destructive and it ends your joy. There are many who abandon their lives and live these sins. However, one day, they will see that they made the worst decision.

In the world, the sinner loses all the inheritance given by the Lord. Afterwards, he finds out that the lost do not have consideration with the person who has nothing to offer them. This also happens in cases of betrayal, after the charm ends. Those who commit adultery deal with their “new love” with disdain and insults. The madmen believe that sin is good, but they do not know that far from God, they walk towards their eternal death.

Since he was unemployed, the prodigal son accepted to take care of the pigs. However, since he could not feed himself, he desired the food of those animals, but nobody gave him anything (Lk 15.16). He did not even think that food for pigs is not proper for humans. There are many who still have hope of doing well far from God, but they need to wake up to the fact that time is running out, and after testing the Lord a little longer, they will go to their eternal torment.

Thanks to God for the work of the Holy Spirit, who made that young man remember the wonderful Father that he had abandoned. The love of the father continued the same, and the son was received with kindness. The same will happen to all who decide to return to the life in God’s family. In the house of the Father, there are no fears or mistakes; only good things. See what you have suffered in the clutches of the enemy, and without any delay, ask the Lord to receive you back.

God waits for you with his arms wide open to celebrate and give you a party. Certainly, the former prodigal wept every day because of his impressive reception. Why should you not enter this door, which has not yet been closed to you at this moment? Whoever leaves it for later can discover that “later” might be too late. Now is the appropriate time for your recovery.

The Master told this parable to encourage you to leave sin and return to the Most High. What was done to the wicked that had preferred the wrong way will also be done for you. In the Lord, there is no bitterness, lack of will, or resentment, but love. The decision is yours, but the consequences are also yours.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares

Oh Lord! Besides receiving the prodigal son, You also dealt with his brother, who did not understand Your work, which made the prodigal son decide to return.

You wanted party and joyfulness. Thank You for loving us in such a way and inserting us in Your family. We were dead, but we have been revived; we were lost, but we have been found.

We should not depart from Your presence, or else, our destiny will be eternal perdition. We return to You to serve You and live besides You. May we remember the great loss destined to the lost and do all that we can for them to return to You as well.
