We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks! For Your wondrous works declare that Your name is near.

Psalm 75:1

When a church does not pray or does not use the name of Jesus to rebuke evil, it remains before us and as a result the enemy sticks around and does his work. People who are disconnected from faith and do not care about what God is doing today, despite being avowed Christians, show that Jesus’ name is not near them and therefore they are in danger of becoming the next victims of the devil’s onslaughts.

What indicates that an individual is doing well is the faith that he/she has in the Name of the Lord. He or she shines brighter than others and lives fearlessly, knowing that by issuing a command all evil doings against them will be undone. Therefore, we must give to the Almighty the glory that is due to Him by using His name against whatever disturbs us. God is pleased when we allow Him to help us. When temptation comes, always use the name of Jesus.

He who glorifies his church or his pastor for a miracle he received is committing sin. It causes the name of the Lord to be far from him; after all, it is an affront to give man or an organization the glory that belongs to Him. The Word warns us that the Almighty will not give His glory to another nor His praise (Isaiah 42:8). Unbelievable as it might seem to be, there are people who credit men or the church with the glory for some divine work.

He who confers to man or a church the authorship of some miracle is possessed by the spirit of spiritual harlotry. Some are induced by preachers who, for some dubious reason, teach that their church is the place where miracles occur. He who makes an unwary person state that it was in a certain denomination that he was able to receive his blessing does a great evil because he is inducing that poor soul to understand that it was not the Lord, but rather the church that operated his deliverance.

We need to bring the name of Jesus closer to us. This becomes possible when we receive the faith and our language is restored (Zephaniah 3:9). Once our lips are purified we can call on the Name which is above every name, and before His Majesty every knee shall bow and every tongue should confess that He is Lord to the glory of the Father (Philippians 2:9-11). When we have the name of Jesus near us our prayers will always get answers.

The sign that the Name of Jesus is with us can be seen through the wonders wrought by Him in answer to our prayers. When a church service or gathering produces no miracles one might suspect that it was not meant for the glory of God. On the other hand, problems do not indicate that the Lord is far from the person or people who belong to Him. The evidence that we have God’s approval is the wonders wrought by him.

In Christ with Love,
