26/11/2016 - THE DEFENDER OF YOUR CAUSE

There is no one to plead your cause, that you may be bound up; you have no healing medicines. Jeremiah 30.13

Judah had gone beyond the limit of the divine patience with its sinful actions. The land that should have been an example of obedience became an offense to the holiness of the Lord, and therefore, should be taken to captivity. The same will happen to the saved ones who let themselves be corrupted and do not listen to the Holy Spirit to return to a relationship with Him. People like this despise the great work done in Calvary and do not listen to the Word.

Their destruction was mortal, and their wound of rebellion was painful. Thus, the people of God did not return to the Lord’s feet. Prosperity is one of the great dangers for the saved, for in the abundance of goods, many let themselves be led by various temptations, resulting in suffering after suffering. What could God do for a people that did not get their ways right, but were always walking away from Him? Does the same thing happen to you?

There was no one to defend their cause. On the contrary, many made them fall deeper in sin. The king, the priests, and other authorities did not make their ways right. Thus, most people did not even know about the Lord and His Word. A people that had been taken away from captivity with God’s strong hand now refused to serve He who delivered them. Jeremiah and other servants of God were not listened, but persecuted.

They needed to be healed and set free of the madness that they were in, but unfortunately, they did not use the divine remedy – repentance. Their ways of amendment served for nothing. Who should they run to, Egypt? This nation, which was the symbol of sin, did not have the conditions to revert the Lord’s order, who had surrendered His people to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, so that they would learn to never again sin against Him.

Those whom they sought help from could not do anything for them. The evil cults practiced in that land, which invoked demons, made the Lord abandon them. Those people loved sin, the idols, and other evil sources, but their beloved ones left them. This is what happens to those who despise the spring of living waters and digs for themselves rotten wells, which cannot retain any water (Jr 2.13).

When the enemy receives the Lord’s permission, he opens the wound and nobody can heal it. The punishment that they suffered was very cruel, because even though they knew that the divine warning was real, they did not return to God. Thus, they went to Babylon to suffer 70 years of shame, suffering, and pain. If you have been away from the divine presence, return right away, for if He hands you over to the enemy, you will have no one to deliver you.

Do not let yourself be led by the devil’s lies. Being prosperous is not a sign that you are well spiritually, and miracles do not prove that God approves your bad conduct. If you want to be happy for all eternity, come closer to the Father. Outside of repentance, there is no way in avoiding the eternal punishment or the afflictions that you will suffer.

In Christ, with love,

Lord! We do not want to be like the people of Judah, who even though were warned, did not seek for repentance, but were filled with evil works to offend you. They were taken to Babylon, where they paid a very high price.

There was no one who could defend their cause. However, there is One who can defend us: Jesus, who suffered in our place to deliver us from eternal condemnation. He has delivered us from the kingdom of evil and the momentary sufferings, such as the eternal suffering.

We do not want remedies from man, but the Truth. May Your hand lead us towards Your presence, where we will open our hearts and confess our mistakes so that we may be forgiven.
