Oh, that my ways were directed to keep Your statutes! Psalm 119.5

It is sad to not have the understanding that there is a God, Lord over all things. Those who are not enlightened in the Truth, even with a certain level of instruction and well-intended, live like animals. However, the animals were not made in the image and likeness of God nor where they given the same essence that He has. Man should prepare himself to be fulfilled in Jesus and live in truth now and in eternity. 

Those who become aware of their sinful situation and accept Jesus as Savior know the importance of the ministry of the Holy Spirit in their lives, which guides us in all Truth. When going through the new birth, the person is forgiven of their errors and become a new creation, servant of the Holy God, and they begin to testify of the goodness of the Only God. Thus, they become truly happy.

The Psalmist’s desire of having his ways directed in a way to observe the statutes of the Lord shows that he understood the need to learn the set of laws and commandments and walk in them. Likewise, those who are saved should be enlightened and, when they discover the abundant life obtained through Jesus, they will have the certainty that there is no partiality in the Kingdom and they will desire to prosper to testify about the Truth. Halleluiah!

It is necessary to know the statutes of divine healing and its questions, the revelations and other teachings, for a powerful and steady faith. In the same way, we should be aware of the promises that lead us to forgiveness, to sanctification and the other blessings conquered and received to those who are born again. We cannot live the faith of luck, where some live well and others have their hands reaching begging for alms.

Only with divine help we can see the good we have in the Word of God. The statutes of the Lord were given for the saved person to live according to His will, which tells us that, if we want to and listen to it, we will eat the good of the land (Isaiah 1:19). The question is: Does our Father want us to wield well the sword of the Spirit – His Word -, so that we can prosper and live free of all evil? The answer is yes. He promises to give us wisdom to those who ask for it. So, do that!

It is not enough to know the Scriptures; we have to listen and have the testimony of the Spirit of God in us. Then, we will take hold of what is ours. With the certainty that such blessings belongs to us, we take possession of them. Everything we must reach for in the Almighty is within the understanding we receive. By being enlightened, real faith comes into your heart, and you rebuke the evil, which will come out of your life.

Have the desire to possess the divine promises. The Omnipotent has put them in the Holy Scriptures, thinking of all His children, you and me. Just like Jabez was wiser than his brothers and prayed according to God’s will (1Chronicles 4:9,10), seek the understanding that belongs to you. Then, take possession of it so you can truly live.
