21/04/2014 - THE ESCAPE FOR SUFFERING

So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” and he said, “From childhood. And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” Mark 9.21,22

After Jesus asks the question, the father of the lunatic young man immediately stops his description to tell the Lord that if He could do anything, for Him to have compassion on them and help them. This has been the attitude of most people around the world: since they don’t know the divine will, they cannot find a solution for their suffering.

Discouragement takes over many people when they see that their suffering endures. Most people, who submit to medical treatment and are not healed, get discouraged. It is almost impossible to hearten someone who is discouraged, for this person no longer sees hope for the end of his or her suffering. However, when the Word of God is preached under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, people feel like the Father in Heaven can solve their problems.

However, even feeling that God may solve their matters, few people obtain His blessing, because all they understand is that the Lord can do it, but they do not know how to allow the Almighty to act in their lives. We all know that an electric power plant has enough force to illuminate our houses. Yet it is necessary to install the wires and the equipment so that it works properly. It is important to know not only that the Lord is powerful and good, but also how to proceed. That is the matter!

Has the Almighty created things in a complicated way? Is there anything impossible for God? Of course, the answer for both questions is no. And in our case, how do we deal with our situations? Well, for us, there is only one problem that is easily solved: believing. Without faith, you will not receive what you ask or what you need. Everything shows that the lack of faith was the door that the father of that young man opened so that the demon could ruin his son’s life.

Faith is a gift that you receive as you listen to the Word of God (Rm 10.17). Thus, you learn what the Lord has for your life. However, it is important to believe so that things may happen. After faith comes, we must pray, ordaining that it might happen to us according to the Word. Then, we must believe. Whoever does not believe will never see the divine power operating. Believing is something that everyone can do, but only those who attend to what the Lord says are able to have faith.

If you do not believe, you and your relatives will suffer. But if you give a good example, many lives will be encouraged and will rise to enjoy from what God has for them. Therefore, when we believe, we help many people to live better. Whoever believes sees the glory of the Father and is part of his divine works (Jo 11.40).

In Christ, with love,
