But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. 2 Timothy 3.10,11

What a master Paul was to Timothy and to all who participated with him in the noble mission that was given by the Father! The apostle remembered them of what he had taught them. These men had a great teacher in the faith, and certainly, people who have learned from true servants of the Lord also have the same thing. Then, the next generation will have someone to give them the example, not through someone who denied his faith.

The example of this servant of the Most High makes us live in such a way that all who are put besides us, by the Lord’s hand, might not have any wrong teaching. The lost need to know the value of holiness through us, so that they might not be scandalized. May others be stronger than we have been, seeing through us that it is productive and profitable to obey God always.

The apostle’s doctrine was one of complete subservience to what the Spirit of God taught him through the Scriptures. In the same way, our attitude cannot be another, or else, we will not please the Lord. We do not have to invent stories, fall into lies or sins, for the Kingdom of Heavens cannot be put to shame because of any bad or defective work that we might do. We have the obligation of being the light of this world (Ep 5.8).

The apostle lists a series of procedures that he had learned in the Word of God. He asserts that Timothy followed him in those virtues. All of those who are taught by the heavenly Father should act in the same way. I understand that this is the kind of person that the Gospel needs, who can lose anything for the love of the Kingdom, and who looks to Jesus at all times because  they cannot and should not serve two lords.

It does not matter where we go or what comes towards us. The obligation of the servant of God is to serve always, without letting dismay take over him. Certainly, the enemy will strive to harm you, but if you truly belong to God, in the Name of Jesus, you will defeat him. Remember that everything that you think, plan, and do will be shown in the day of the Return of the Lord (Rm 14.12). Being so, live in such a way that you are not ashamed.

The Lord knows how to deliver us from all persecutions, and undoubtedly, He understands that they are part of our learning. We believe that our reward will be greater than our persecutions, for the Most High keeps for Himself the faithful and pious servant. However, those who like what the devil brings them cannot serve the great King.

Follow what God has already told you, for He has called you to be part of His Kingdom. Believe that your mission will expand every day that you serve Him with fullness and purity of heart. There is no way how you can be defeated if you are accomplishing Heaven’s orders.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares

Faithful God! We cannot get desperate when the evil one invests against us. His power to strike us is limited, and certainly, You will surround us with Your grace. In Your Name, we have the power to confront everything that rises against our lives.

Help us to hear Your voice, for then, we will know what to do in all moments when evil tries to strike us. It is true that we will only be able to be victorious if we are firm and unshakeable in the faith in Jesus. Thank You for calling us to this communion.

We know that You will always fight in our favor, freeing us from the enemy’s attempts. Being so, we will fulfill the ministry that You have given us. Lord, there is only one thing that we do not accept giving up: being faithful to You.
