Moreover he must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. 1 Timothy 3:7

Christians who are in leadership positions before the right time can fall into the enemy’s traps. That’s why the Word of God prohibits us from laying hands on others before the correct time. People can be genuinely called to the work of God, but first they must acquire experience and prepare themselves so that they wont dishonor the name of the Lord, whom they represent.

Without this preparation stage, precious lives that could bear many fruits are exposed to temptations that they’re not yet prepared for. They could be committing a mistake themselves, but most of the times the responsibility is their leader’s, who should wait until the right moment to place them in a leadership position. If you feel your leader is not being fair with you, wait patiently and pray, because this feeling you have is from the devil.

The Lord planned apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and masters for the church, so that the saints would be equipped for the work (Eph. 4:11,12). Those who feel the call for the ministry should necessarily pay the price of consecrating their lives to Him, and shouldn’t run from the battles that appear so that their flock doesn’t fall into the hands of the enemy. Be careful, dear pastors, so that you won’t be held responsible for the lives that are lost.

People from outside of the church are the best ones to measure if someone is ready to be in a leadership position or not. The lost ones always respect those who belong to God, and have nothing against them; that’s why the Lord will use true Christians in a very productive way. Workers who have problems with their neighbor should be under surveillance all the time.

When the chosen people of God don’t serve Him as they should, the malign one will affront them. The truth is that the enemy wants to cause trouble to all who have been called, prepared and anointed for the ministry, but he can’t touch those who truly serve the Lord. It is true that the Lord protects those who put their trust in Him, but the warning we are talking about comes from God.

The devil sets up many traps to imprison the servants of God. Those who are more mature are not taken away by the lies of the enemy. However, those who are not prepared to be used by the Father could surrender to the false offers from the devil and fall into temptation. May the Lord keep us from contributing to somebody else’s perdition.

We were sent by the Lord to rescue and take care of His flock, so that we won’t be ashamed on the last day. May the Father grant us success in such great challenge!

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
