That you may feed and be satisfied With the consolation of her bosom, that you may drink deeply and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. Isaiah 66:11

The Spirit of God compares the members of the body of Christ to little babies who are still nursed by their mother’s breasts. Jesus said that those who didn’t become like little children would not enter the kingdom of heaven (Mt. 18:3). The Jerusalem that’s mentioned in verse 10 of Isaiah 66 is the symbol of the gospel, our eternal city, where we lack nothing. There, the power of God is always at our disposal; that’s why there’s no way to lack divine assistance when we are part of the body of the Lord.

The consolations of the kingdom of God supply all our needs, and therefore we will never be hungry if we’re walking with Christ and fulfilling His will for us. However, in order for us to achieve this, we must do like babies do: they are never ashamed to look for their mother’s breasts and extract what will feed their hunger. We must look to the Lord whenever we need Him, without being concerned about the place where we are. The babies nurse and suck what they need, and they only stop when they have been fed.

The blessing of the Lord is immense, and He wants us to be pleased with the image of His glory. You must agree that we are far away from the position our God has for us. In reality, we are living quite far away from what He has destined to us. We haven’t been absorbing enough nor have we been rejoicing at the brightness of His wonderful glory. We have been receiving just a glimpse of His glory, and this already makes us happy; however, we need more.

Through the prophet, the Lord demands us to rejoice with Jerusalem (verse 10); after all, the love of God overcame evil. When Christ was resurrected, there was a feast in heaven, because hell couldn’t detain the Son of God (Acts 2:23-27, 31). From then on, things became different, because as long as they put their faith in Jesus, no one is oppressed by the devil any longer. In His name, the weakest man can rebuke Satan himself, who is forced to flee.

We should be glad because of the time we’re living in, for our Jerusalem is free of any involvement with evil. Now it’s time to celebrate the power of God anywhere two or three are united in His name. In this kind of meeting, the Lord Jesus Himself is present, and there is no diabolic operation that can keep the blind from seeing, the speechless from speaking, the deaf from hearing, the paralytic from walking and the poor from listening to the good news (Mt. 18:20).

The time for weeping is over, and there is no more despair. The situation you are living doesn’t matter anymore, for with the power of the Lord you can be free from all the attacks of the enemy. Be filled with joy and go fight your battles, knowing that the breasts of Jerusalem will feed you with the food you need to defeat your oppressor.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
