13/03/2014 - THE IMPORTANCE OF MIRACLES

What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. Acts 4.16

There is nothing better than miracles to testify of the Word of God. Everyone that is sent to preach the Gospel needs to understand that working miracles is an order given by Jesus to His called ones, for He declared that those who believe in Him will do the same works that He did (Jo 14.12). If you do not seek the Lord in the right manner, you will be defeated as you try to fulfill the divine work.

Peter and John listened to this commandment straight from the Master’s lips. When the right moment came, Peter did not leave it for later. Immediately, he put himself into action, ordering that that man stood up and walked. The result was surprising, for the man that had never walked was firm on his feet, and as he entered the temple with them, he jumped and praised God (Ac 3.6-8).

Those who were in the House of the Lord that day were marveled. The news spread, and the Jewish authorities grumbled because the Most High was using the disciples in the same way that He had used Jesus. They knew that that was the reason why the miracles had happened, and in the heat of the moment, they threatened the disciples, ordering them to stop doing the work of God. The fact that God uses someone proves that He is with that person.

The masters of Judaism confessed between themselves that they did not know what to do. It was undeniable that a great miracle had happened in their midst. At the same time, they asked themselves what to do with the disciples. The people of this world do not know what to do with those who are God’s instruments. If they need a blessing, they may even offer money to the servants of God. But if they want them silent, they threaten them.

The temple’s authorities needed to do something, but they knew not what to do. They could not deny that the miracle was real. After all, those who had made that miracle were Jesus’ disciples, and if they kept working wonders, everyone would follow them. However, if they had thought carefully, they should have accepted the Lord as their Savior, and then, they would also be serving God. Unfortunately, there are people that let other things speak louder to their hearts, and are not saved.

The church, the society, you, me, everyone needs the sons and daughters of God to be in communion with the Father. Then, the same miracles that happened in the past will happen in our days. The best of all is that God does not have favorites. Amongst those who were called to be part of His Body, there is no one who can be considered better or worst than the other. What about you, when will you let the Lord use you?

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
