Why is there in the hand of a fool the purchase price of wisdom, since he has no heart for it?   Proverbs 17.16

Whoever thinks that he is the best in the world is a fool, even if he goes to a good church, praises the Lord, and seeks godly things. This person is always living like the sinners: never losing an opportunity to sin. Everyone who finds Christ finds life; however, if they do not consecrate themselves and seek the divine wisdom, in order to understand the divine revelation, they will have lost the best part of their days.

Even if someone may show great fervor in prayer, giving a good impression to the mature in the faith, he will deceive himself if he does not understand how the spiritual world works. He must understand what he should do to have the divine power operating on his favor and to be freed from the attacks of the evil one. What use is there in calling the Lord our God if, in fact, we do not give Him the opportunity to bless us?

The lack of understanding about the Scriptures makes you think that you will defeat the forces of evil only by praying. This demonstrates an attitude of effort and obedience towards the Lord. However, if you do not act according to the Word, your prayer will not reach the Lord. Then, after waiting and doing what you thought to be right, you will see that it was all worthless. Our faith in Jesus must be used wisely so that we may defeat the kingdom of darkness.

In order to be answered by God, you must act like a wise man – he who is enlightened by the Word and knows how to handle it successfully. Then, you will see the secret of success of our ancient brothers and sisters, who did not lose any battle, even if it seemed an impossible situation. The Lord’s power cannot act for those who do not know how to make the divine work happen.

You can put your effort in fasting and prayer so that the Most High may help you to defeat evil. Yet, it is not because of a sacrifice that you will be heard, but because you use the resources from the Word given by the Omnipotent. If you do not walk with prudence in the Way, you will not understand the purchase price for wisdom. But you must know also that the Lord grants wisdom with liberality (James 1.5).

If you do not get rid of a sin, you get stuck to the demon that tempted you to become his servant. Therefore, even though you may ask, beg, or wait for the divine mercy, nothing will happen. The Word declares that our sin covers the Lord’s face in a way that He does not listen to us, and our iniquity separates us from Him (Is 59:2). Start listening to what the Bible reveals, and become a wise man.

Seek understanding in order to obtain wisdom. The price is only to give attention to the Most High; then, you will never stumble. It is easier than it seems, but by no means will the Omnipotent attend he who does not love Him (J0 14.23). Your decision about what you learned here can change your life for the better.
