23/09/2014 - THE LORD WILL BREAK THE STRENGTH OF THE WICKED

For God says, “I will break the strength of the wicked, but I will increase the power of the godly.” Psalm 75.10

We are still talking about the wicked—people who do not serve the Lord, who are dangerous for those who do take heed to God’s voice. The verse which is the object of today’s study declares that God will break the strength of the wicked. By following God’s instructions, which are given through his Word, we can avoid being labeled as wicked. It would be great if all those who are devoted to wickedness amended their ways.

Everyone has a bed. The bed of some people may cost a large amount of money, perhaps because it was made of high quality material, while the bed of other people may be of inferior quality. Both beds, nevertheless, serve exactly the same purpose. There are people who are willing to pay a large amount of money for a mattress because it is of a renowned brand, and it may even be more comfortable indeed. However, even if a bed is a bunch of cardboard sheets put together, what happens there—where we lay our bodies—is what really matters at the end of the day.

In his bed, a wicked person, instead of allowing himself to learn from the Lord, or instead of conducting self-examination to see where he has made mistakes, he keeps thinking about how he can increase his strength in order to deceive others and to get out of situations that are not favorable to him. The Father, who sees all things, informs us that this person, which has despised the path of righteousness, will not advance. Each day his strength will be broken.

Without a doubt, he would be successful if he sought God’s plan for his life. By getting to know the will of the Most High and fulfilling it, he would be protected by God. Nevertheless, he has chosen the path of wickedness. This person knows that his deeds are wrong, and he says: “This is my fate”. No! That is not true. We all have the necessary means to do what is good. Why then should we allow the devil to lead us astray?

It would be great if everyone devoted themselves to learn God’s Word and was filled with gifts of the Holy Spirit. This way, we would no longer hear about people who have lost hope, who are being destroyed by drugs, involved in adultery and in other destructible works that, unfortunately, are plaguing our society. Would it not be nice if everyone knew the Lord and loved him? We would hear only good things then.

Evil is everywhere. Satan is trying his best—through his lies—to sell his “facility”. He has been able to deceive many people for only one reason: God’s people have remained silent concerning the Truth and good. As a result, evil is taking over. If the church remains silent, soon the wrong practices will prevail. We have to speak about what God does and tell everyone that it is better to serve the Lord than believing in the lies of the enemy.

Another mistake that we often make is not to show the power of God to the extent that the devil will become furious at our attitude as servants of the Most High. However, because we remain silent, one of these days we will receive a card from Satan saying “Thank you very much”. May God have mercy on us! My prayer is that all those who are saved begin doing God’s work in his power.

In Christ, with love,

Oh God, we must not remain silent regarding good and evil, because the world is sinking due to the foolishness of the wicked. Your saints need to wake up and start doing your true will, which was revealed by the Lord Jesus during his ministry on earth.

Father, deliver people who use their beds to think about the bad things they intend to do to others. They are corrupting others, leading them into the hands of the devil. But your truth will prevail, so we pray for your mercy towards all those who are sleeping in faith.

May all of them turn to the path of righteousness, sanctify themselves, be healed and prosper. May the foolishness be removed from their lives, and then you will hear their cry for help. Why should they insist on mistakes if this will cost them the eternal life? Lord, help us hate evil.
