When the people sent Sherezer, with Regem-Melech and his men, to the house of God,to pray before the Lord. Zechariah 7.2

Everyone wants to receive divine favor. Truly, even those who claim not to believe in the Lord would like to believe and see the Truth acting upon their lives. It is easy and simple to experiment the power of God, but that does not mean that the devil won’t react back to try and make you give up. For the Most High to work on everything you need, faith is enough.

The reign of Judah refused listening to Jeremiah and other prophets, who would speak with anticipation about the time when Babylon would take the people of God as slaves for 70 years. However, that did not bother the king nor the people. Ignoring what the Omniscient says is more then losing the divine blessings. When someone refuses to listen to the Father, he is listening to the enemy.

The preachers of the Gospel have been announcing the end of life on Earth. Those that resist the Word will find a different destiny then those who are saved, for they will go to the lake that forever burns with fire and brimstone. As incredible as it may seem, this information doesn’t seem to bother the heathen. However, once they are there, they will lament forever. Wake up!

In the verse we are studying we read, that for 70 years, those who stayed in Bethel prayed and fasted for the deliverance of the Israelites. They longed to know how to reach divine favor. Even from outside Bethel, the city of light, people were sent to ask what they should do to become beneficiaries of the Lord. Their interest reached the ears of the prophet, who prayed to God. Zechariah heard from the Most High that the error had occurred before they were defeated by Nebuchadnezzar. Truly, even the fasting was practiced to their own advantage and not to give God the opportunity to work in their favor. We have also done the same nowadays because, in most of the time, we fast for our own problems. Next, because we have not fulfilled the divine will, we become confused. He who believes obeys.   Therefore, do not get confused.

The right answer given by the Lord through Zechariah made a reference on how most people are living, people who didn’t wake up to the responsibility of correcting their path so they can avoid falling in the  day of Judgment. Everything the Lord says must be recognized and answered. He would never say something that didn’t hold any application for our present and future life. The order is to set our procedures straight. What do you have to say about that?

It doesn’t matter what men think; there will be a day when everyone will be judge according to their deeds. To some there will be a reward for having obeyed God; to others there will be condemnation for their disobedience. There is only one way to avoid eternal damnation: turning to the Lord in sincere repentance. Only then, your sins will be washed away.
