Then Judah said to Israel his father, “Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go, that we may live and not die, both we and you andalso our little ones. Genesis 43.8

When things seem to be out of control, we make the most difficult decisions in life.  Leaning on the promise that their seed would always be blessed by the Lord, the sons of Israel exceeded their limits often times and even sold their brother who would be groomed by the Lord for a great mission.  In this manner and in cold heartedness, they lied to their father and showed no sympathy or empathy towards the deep sorrow of Jacob the patriarch.  Incredible!  Years went by and those men maintained that lie.

The sons of Israel could not even imagine that their starvation would cause them to redeem themselves from the evil they had practiced against their brother Joseph and so when they saw the Egyptian leader ask for the presence of their youngest brother they almost lost their minds.  Why would Joseph proceed in that line if all that they wanted was to buy the wheat that he had in plenty of? Many things happen to reminds us of the sins and evils we once committed, and this way reconcile us to the Author of Life.

One danger surrounds God’s people and servants:  the self- delusion that nothings can harm them.  Hence this person often behaves like the lost, and if the divine mercy does not convince them of their sin, they will be judged exactly like the wicked and will be condemned.  We were not chosen, called, reached and separated to sin, but to live in righteousness and holiness.  Our hope will only be confirmed if we do not submit to the devil.  We must be careful, and keep watch in order to not be condemned.

Jacob’s journey in his life on Earth had its ups and downs, but his perseverance in believing in God made the difference.  The same always happens with all of the saved.  If they never had any difficult moments, they might never bow to the sovereignty of the Most High and would consequently be lost.  Do not be taken by the trials and tribulations, that may certainly appear; they are part of the teachings and lessons given by the Master of masters.  Look constantly and steadily to Jesus!

No matter what may have happened to you, there is only one way to escape from the devil: find your shelter in the Lord!  The adversary uses all possible ways to remove us from our position in Christ; from a moral temptation to an apparently unsolvable problem.  So never cease to seek holiness, crying out for it with all your heart, nor from seeking healing from an incurable ailment that never relents.  The declarations and promises of the heavenly Father are true and faithful!

When the traitorous brothers fell into despair – in the height of famine, there was only one thing to do: go to Egypt.  They were unanimous in agreeing there was only one option to staying alive and that was to submit themselves to the strange conditions of the prudent man in that position of power.  In fact, these events were part of the Almighty’s plan to lead those men to repentance.  If they did not do what was required of them they would fall into darkness and would be tormented forever.  Listen to what the Lord is telling you and obey Him.

On learning that their brother Joseph was the most powerful person in Egypt – the brother that they had sold into slavery – those men concluded that God is Just.  They look at each other and realized the evil they had committed.  Nevertheless, instead of the punishment that they deserved, they received the love of the essence of the Lord. (1 John 4:8)  This is how He treats you and wants to bless you.  Amen!

In Christ, with Love,

God, Master and our Righteousness!  Years had passed and the ten brothers had not owned up to the crime that they had committed against Joseph, who had been chosen and was being prepared by You to deliver them in the future.  This is also why Jesus came and suffered for us.

Starvation and famine led them to Egypt and there they saw how Your ways are much higher.  Every time they neared that country they were taken by anxiety, but You were exacting all the demands so that they would be led to repent.

When they realized that the most powerful in Egypt was Joseph, their brother, they were speechless.  Then they heard from him that everything they had experienced was for their own good.  That we may understand that Your will must always be embraced and never questioned.  Revive our hearts!  Amen!
