In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; my hand was stretched out in the night without ceasing; my soul refused to be comforted. Psalm 77:2

Jesus’ teachings are the best way to follow. He once said that we would have tribulations in the world (Jo. 16:33), but that this didn’t mean that we should be passive in respect to the attacks from the kingdom of darkness. If this is happening to you, seek help right away. The demon enjoys watching Christians who believe his lies, because this way he can put his work into action.

The fact that you’ve once accepted the Lord’s salvation into your heart doesn’t protect you from the enemy’s temptations. Temptations come from everywhere and affect everyone. Those who really fear the Lord, and who keep His commandments, should resist against any malign attempts. The divine order is to not give place to the devil (Eph. 4:27).

Asaph, the psalmist, proceeded in a correct way when anguish filled his heart: he sought the Lord. If instead he had accepted that difficult time in his life as the Lord’s will for his life, and complained about it, he would never have received freedom. He sought the Lord so that the divine power would free him. Therefore, do not bow before Satan’s attitudes, even if he insists.

Asaph knew that he’d lose the war if his hands were empty; that’s why he would always stretch out his hand to the Omnipotent God. It doesn’t matter what kind of evil is visiting you (it might be some sickness in your body, or sadness in your soul, depression, anguish; or some secret passion that has taken over your heart). Stretch out your hands so that the Lord may fill them with His virtues. The devil for sure isn’t playing around with you.

The psalmist did more: he didn’t accept any consolations except what the Word has to offer. You can be certain of one thing: the Lord has never said anything that isn’t true. The truth is that your healing has already happened when Jesus took your sickness upon Him at Calvary. Your forgiveness was acquired when He shed His blood for you, and the Lord’s calling for your life will never be changed (Is. 53). You are very special to Him.

It is not good to be taught by someone who speaks against the biblical declarations. The enemy fools those who give ears to these lies. God is faithful. Whatever He declares to us is true, and He will never transmit incorrect information to anyone. Rise up right now and rebuke the evil that’s been afflicting you, for your victory is eternal and certain.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
