Remove from me reproach and contempt, For I have kept Your testimonies. Psalm 119: 22

Many evils come upon us, or good things do not happen to us, because of us. The Bible directs us to stand firm with the Lord so that no harm will overtake us nor any disaster will come near our tent. Whoever is not in communion with Him, loses His assistance in moments of need or temptation and easily falls into the deceits of the adversary.

The psalmist must have been involved in sinful situations; so, the Father’s hand weighed upon him. Thus, contempt ruled his life. There are several people in our churches living that way. No matter how hard they try, they cannot shake off the negative attitudes that dominate them. So, although they pray, they do not improve. It is necessary to be well with God in order to be kept.

Never hide your faults, because they will keep the Lord from blessing you. Rights and wrongs are always naked and patent in the eyes of the One with whom we have to deal. To pray to the Most High, while there are hidden transgressions in us, is to disrespect divine holiness and omnipotence. Those who do this will never succeed. Be honest with God.

The sad thing about having hidden sins is that the devil gains access to oppress you. No matter how hard you try, you will not be able to break free. There is no peace for the wicked, says the Word. However, no evil shall befall those who live righteously (Proverbs 21: 8). Get rid of the devil by confessing your faults. This is the only way to be forgiven and to free your soul from anguish.

It is only when we are at peace with the Almighty that the forces of evil lose their ability to afflict us because the barrier of protection placed by God around us will prevent the diabolical approach. Try to get rid of your opponent while walking with him. Escape from condemnation and do not let anyone have anything against you.

Because he knew that he would be kept by the testimonies given by God in His Word, the author of this Psalm knew what to do to get rid of what bothered him. Then, when he prayed, he was blessed. Then, the Lord instructed him to write what happened to him, so that you and I could learn the way of freedom and get rid of the evils caused by the accuser. In Christ, we are lords over our lives.

Have you kept the testimonies of the Most High, or have you been careless? As you fulfill what you are told, pray that shame and contempt will come out of your life, as well as the other oppressions. Do not be captive of suffering. Assume your deliverance!
