And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.   1 Chronicles 4.10

A person may have been born in a family with a bad reputation, or may be despised even by his own relatives. However, if this person believes that God has a purpose in their life, they have the conditions to make an incredible turnaround. When we understand the Gospel, we enter in touch with the power that created the entire Universe, as well as the human being. Then, if we pay attention to what the Most High tells us, we will be capable of changing our history for good.

Jabez would probably not be someone important, but he paid attention to the Word of the Lord, and invoked the God of Israel. The first step is to listen to the Lord – to believe in His Word – and afterwards, to cry out to Him with all of your heart. Then, it is necessary to seek to know everything that the heavenly Father has for His people, and never feel incapable, because He will fulfill His promises. 

Jacob would never have been the patriarch of the Hebrews, an ancestor of Jesus, if he had accepted the defeat that he suffered in the womb of his mother. There was a struggle in Rebekah’s womb, and Esau, the stronger child, came first. However, even though he was left behind and lost his birthright, Jacob clung to his brother’s feet, as if he were saying, “you took my blessing, but I will supplant you”. Therefore, his name was Jacob – the supplanter.

When Jabez understood that God could change his life, he was filled with faith, and without fear, he acted as a giant, praying boldly for his life to be transformed, for the Almighty was his Helper. The same opportunity is given for all people, but the only ones who will be attended will be those who assume a commitment with the Creator and do His will. Be strong and do your best, and God will honor you. 

When you pray to receive your blessing, do not limit yourself and do not limit God, because He is Lord. Remember that He has all the power on Heavens and on Earth, and at the same time, He is not against your success. Those who know His promises can pray without fear and with confidence, for He has pleasure in attending His own people.

Jabez wanted everything that God had promised, and he obtained it. The holy writer who expressed this story in the biblical register was led by the Lord to show that he spoke more things, but this does not interest us. In the same way, you must open your heart, pray to God and believe until you obtain everything that He has shown in the Word.

 

When Jesus signed the New Covenant in your favor, he allowed you to present your requests and desires to be part of this Covenant, which has the blood of Christ as witness and guarantee for the fulfillment of what is promised. The promises in the Bible are for all who dare to believe in them and claim them.
