09/09/2018 - THE NAMES OF DAVID’S MIGHTY MEN

These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb-Basshebeth the Tachmonite, chief among the captains. He was called Adino the Eznite, because he had killed eight hundred men at one time. 2 Samuel 23: 8

It is almost impossible to do the divine work without the help of people raised by God, willing to work alongside us, helping us in our needs. The Bible says that it is better to be two than one (Ecclesiastes 4: 9), so we should pray to the Lord to instruct whom He wants to put together with us in the battles. Unfortunately, we are not always well equipped and prepared to face the adversary. In this case, it is good and profitable to have a competent brother, prepared by the Most High.

The hypothesis of being defeated in some combat must be taken from our heart, because if the Lord led us to fight against the enemy, He has enabled us to win. David had his mighty men who, under his command, marched against their opponents and defeated them. Besides being brave men, they were also God-fearing and respected the anointing which the Lord had given to the son of Jesse.

In the days of David, it was never recorded that Israel suffered any defeat; after all, the king knew that he fought in the wars of the Lord. In the same way, if we are attacked by an evil in our body or soul and try to get rid of it, we fight the wars of God, because our body is His temple. When we fight for a son, we do it for someone who is part of the inheritance of the Most High; thus, we will have the divine assistance.

No one stands before those who battle the fights of the Most High. However, if the soldier of the cross is afraid, he must return home and learn to serve the Lord with all his strength, with all his heart and with all his soul. Those who are not well before God should not face the devil. It is better not to go than to go and be defeated. Now, the Name of the Lord can never be ashamed.

God enabled every one of David’s mighty men, such as Adino, to oppose the 800 and killed them at once. How could a man without modern weapons, defeat such a large number of enemies? Well, we’re talking about someone anointed for that position. Perceive where the Lord has put you and remain there, doing the divine will. Then it will be written that you were used to do wonders. When the battle is of the Lord, He uses us.

These men helped David maintain the sovereignty of Israel and, possibly, the internal order as well. What are we doing for the Kingdom of God here on Earth? Are we helping the people to understand the Word, or making use of it for some personal purpose? Certainly, those who use God’s grace for illicit personal enrichment, or for other reasons, do not know how much they are harming themselves.

The Kingdom of God would be greatly expanded if those who were raised by the Lord in high positions dedicated themselves in fulfilling their noble call with full dedication! During the reign of David, Israel was never defeated. Examine what you need to do to honor your mission.

In Christ with love,

Oh God! Just as David had his mighty men who fulfilled their mission with dedication and love for You, we also need to fulfill our call in favor of Your Kingdom. After all, we are Your servants. Help Us!

We want to learn from You how to do good. Thus, we will not stumble upon any obstacle placed by the enemy, but we will execute Your order with faithfulness and success. Lord, we must learn to have more of You.

How did Adino manage to kill 800 at once, if he was a man and did not have the weapons of today? This teaches us that You can use us to do the best for Your work. Then, people will realize that they need You and they will seek You. Amen!
