30/09/2017 - THE PLAGUE OF FROGS

So the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up and come into your house, into your bedroom, on your bed, into the houses of your servants, on your people, into your ovens, and into your kneading bowls. Exodus 8.3

In the second plague, as in all of them, the Lord knew what He was doing by hardening Pharaoh’s heart. God acted in such a way so that Pharaoh, in his stubbornness, would see Egypt destroyed. For this reason, never rebel against God’s decisions, even if He might seem delayed in answering your prayers. Just like the Most High knew how to deal in order for the king to set His people free, He knows how to deal to set you free from your oppressions.

The plagues cast upon Egypt were used to shame the gods worshipped in that land, besides having other divine purposes. Now, Pharaoh was venerated as a son of the greatest god in Egyptian mythology. The Lord wanted the people to see that those deities were nothing more than demons without the power they claimed to have. After all, they could do nothing to save the Egyptian people from those plagues.

When water was transformed into blood, it was proven that the god of the Nile, Hapi, had no power at all. The Egyptians’ veneration to certain species of fish was absolutely incapable to protect any of them. The Bible teaches that the Most High is the only God. He cannot be represented by any image or mistaken by the entities that dominate and deceive the nations.

Now, in the plague of frogs, the frog goddess named Heqt would be put to shame. Their spiritual ignorance was so great, that they were led by primitive and senseless cults. How can a frog be accepted as a goddess? However, in those times, the Egyptians venerated it with great promptitude. Across the nations, the devil has led many people to worship things in nature, or certain evil spirits, as if they were divine. Have mercy, Lord!

Although we have are flooded with the revelations from the Scriptures, in which the Lord’s promises are made clear and thus, His blessings available to all, there are people who get involved in animist cults. They think that by doing so, they will receive protection. This happens ever since Satan deceived the first couple, in the Garden of Eden. It is necessary to preach and live the Word of God. If we do so, people will awaken and be set free from idolatrous practices. 

Those who think that the divine work can be done their own way might not know that Jesus said that He gave us the example so that we might do as He did. The Lord ministered to the sick, oppressed, and sinners, and led them to complete deliverance. We must do the same thing otherwise we will undoubtedly be accountable for the sin of rebellion.

Pharaoh asked Moses to pray to God to remove the frogs. When the servant of God asked when should he pray, the king answered that it should be on the following day. What did he have in mind when he said this? In the next message, we will see what happened.
