Now Jacob cooked a stew; and Esau came in from the field, and he was weary.  Genesis 25.29

Since the womb, there was a combat between Esau and Jacob. Actually, the struggle was greater than that of those brothers, for it was good against evil. From Rebekah´s womb a man who was to be patriarch of the Lord´s people would be born, the heir of the promise; that is why he could not be carnal and not interested in the matters of God. It´s not the happenings that change us but, rather, the attention we give to the demon and the lack of regard that we sometimes show towards the redemption plan of humanity.

The fact that Jacob was born with his hand tied to the heel of his twin brother can be a signal that Esau, albeit unconsciously, used force to come out before his brother, and thus hinder the divine plan. However, the Lord, who weighs people´s hearts, did not allow that to perpetuate. I don’t know why many people condemn Jacob and call him a thief, a cheater, if he did a clean and licit deal; after all, Esau despised his birthright for a plate of food.

If someone who did not love the matters of God happen to come and lead a family where the Savior would come from, he could ruin it all. Esau´s bad character was evident when, by his own decision, he got married to two women of a different people, bringing bitterness to his parents (Gen 26:34,35). Because Rebekah was spiritual, knew how to lead succession, which, by the way, had already been decided when Esau despised and sold his birthright.

Esau was a great hunter, but Jacob was quiet and lived in tents. The person’s behavior show what they can turn out to be in the hands of the Most High. The Lord need people that don’t aspire to be rich, famous, the most important and appreciated by their natural gifts. The heart of a servant must always prefer that the Lord grows and that he or she lessens.

Psalms 15 and 24 declare that God does not like those who don’t fulfill what they have promised, even if they are the only ones harmed. That is why it is necessary to be very careful when we commit our word in a venture, in a wedding, and especially, in the ministry. If you make a vow to the Lord, don’t delay to pay it, for He has no pleasure in fools (Ec 5:4). It is time to learn what the Scriptures say, for they certainly tell a lot.

Rebekah felt from God that Jacob should have the blessing, and overcoming the natural love of a mother for the son, she helped him keep it. The biblical orientation is for you to keep what was given to you, or else you will miss your reward (Rev. 3:11).  For whoever has, to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. (Mat 13:12). The person that does not waste what was given to her will have it in abundance, and the opposite will also happen.

Like it happened to Jacob, who had many experiences and some were very painful, you too will also go through disappointments, frustrations and betrayal´s during your training. However, you must stay firm, for the Lord knows how to prepare those to make up the ministry of His Church. There are many people who can be saved or lost with your attitude of obeying or disobeying God. Your decision in serving determines the measure that will be used on you (Luke 6:38).

In Christ, with love,

Lord! How our heart rejoices to know that You are sovereign on Your decisions! Even the situations that we don’t understand do take place according to Your will, for the good of all, and especially to Your work. May we never stand against Your works.

We want to be guided by You, so don’t allow the enemy to deceive us. Today, we declare to You that our greatest goal is to fulfill Your plan, cooperating with You in the accomplishment of Your purposes.

May we not be carnal, but may we obey Your plan. We cannot help out the enemy, but, yes, we have to do what You command us. Our happiness is to see the Truth triumph and the lost find You. Amen!
