And he made all who were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin take a stand. So the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers. 2 Chronicles 34:32

With the passing of time, the people of God started to let up, until the time came when they were taken captive. Then, undergoing humiliating experience, the Lord’s servants remembered how foolish they had been by loving the world and its pleasures.  They were flogged by the enemy when truly they should be enjoying the shelter and benefits of the good shepherd. Many today feel the same thing for neglecting the All Powerful.

It first happened to the rebels that followed Jeroboam and established the northern kingdom which remained as Israel. Instead of seeking the Lord – due to their sins – God had divided the kingdom He had given the house of David – they preferred to affront the Omnipotent with their Satanic religious practices. Soon their fate was sealed. Even though the Almighty wanted them not to continue in error, Shalmaneser came and took them captive to Assyria.

Later on, the King of Judah also strayed from the Truth and those inhabitants were taken off as slaves to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar. Why did this happen or why has so much evil happened to the chosen people?  The motive or reason is always the same: disrespect for His commandments. What has been seen among the children of Israel has also been true with those that accepted Jesus as their Savior. There are many Christians that have abandoned divine precepts.

Even having these sad examples, there are still many who do not watch out and on Christ’s return will be sent to eternal suffering. This is not a joke! We are talking about the lake of sulfur and fire for all eternity. The rebellious and the irresponsible which chose to love the worldly pleasures and were corrupted by the works of darkness will enter into this lake for all eternity to never come out.

Before the deportation to Babylon, in the days of Josiah, remodeling the temple, the servants of God found the Book of the Law and read it to the king who was shocked. That reading was the drop that spilled the bucket for the young ruler. One hundred years before his birth prophesies had been written that he would truly restore the faith among the Israelites. He was alarmed and ordered everyone to go to Jerusalem and the Lord went with him.

Josiah’s convocation called up everyone from Judah, Benjamin and others from Jerusalem.  Then they made an Covenant with God. While this agreement lasted, everything went well but as usual the people returned to error. Then, years later, the King of Babylon took captive all those that had given themselves over to the enemy and his deceptions. The whole nation was taken in chains to a land that knew not the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Be careful!  Those that are not in communion will be sent to eternal suffering.

The King of Judah’s success enabled everyone to remain standing before the Lord. This way the greatest revival seen in the Promised Land came to pass. The Passover that he ministered was unique in all the history of Israel. Did it last?  Yes, but not as it should. Unfortunately, many share in beautiful memories but later deviate.  Think about this!

In Christ, with Love,

God of the Covenant!  Knowing how the Israelites underwent suffering for not giving due attention to You, we want to behave differently. For this, we cry out and claim Your mercy and help so we are not lost eternally.

Today we have a better stand before You. Saved by the blood of Christ and baptized in the Holy Spirit we have no excuse to fall into temptation. Mercy!

Help us to find You in Your Book for we need reasons for revival in our midst in such a lively fire, that nothing can stop us from getting to You and receive all our needs. Now, we already participate and share in Your nature and glory.
