09/06/2014 - THE REWARD OF THE INHERITANCE

Knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3.24

No wonder we are so hated. The devil knows that the Lord God made us at His image and likeness, and for this reason, he hates us. When he deceived Adam and Eve, he was accomplished. However, when Jesus resurrected from the dead, Satan was desperate. The enemy realized that God’s plan in redeeming us from the fall and buying us for Him had been accomplished, and that when the message of the Good News would be preached, he would lose those who accepted it.

The act of accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord of our lives is very relevant. With this decision, we receive the power of becoming sons and daughters of God. Then, as we put our faith in Jesus into practice, we are recreated and become new creatures. This process is the key of our success. After repentance, from which we have forgiveness of sins, comes the baptism in waters. In this experience, our old nature is removed and buried (Rm 6.1-11).

The best of it all is that we become sons and daughters of God without blame. This means that the enemy cannot blame us from any sin that we had in the past. The truth is that we have been washed, sanctified, and justified – made innocent by the blood of Jesus – in such a way that there is no condemnation against us (Rm 8.33,34). As children, we become heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ (Rm 8.17). Our inheritance in Christ is complete.

Today, we have a mission to serve Jesus. This does not mean that we must be similar to those who practice other religions and praise their “gods” all day. It means that we must observe and fulfill His commandments, which are not burdensome. Unfortunately, due to lack of instruction of what should be the right procedure, there are many imitating these religious people. However, to serve God is to assume the fulfillment of His promises.

It is important to remember that we must assume our place in Christ with all of our hearts. If we only desire blessings, nothing will be done for us. But if we learn by the Word that something belongs to us, and we believe that it will be done, the power of God works in our favor. Being so, we can conclude that it is easy to obtain what the Scriptures declare.

As you follow the steps that the Lord taught, your success will be inevitable. However, do not seek nor accept praise from man. Be careful not to exchange your inheritance, which will be granted by the Almighty, by the false hope of human recognition. After all, everyone who serves God will be rewarded. With this in mind, you are invited to serve the Most High unreservedly. Wouldn’t it be a good time to start doing so now?
