Hear a just cause, O LORD, attend to my cry; give ear to my prayer which is not from deceitful lips.

Psalm 17: 1

David, the King of Israel, cried out to The Most High to hear his petition. Our prayers have to have a purpose like the psalmist’s: getting to our Lord’s ears. The truth is that it would be pointless praying if we were not to be answered. The Lord’s counsels given to us are sheer evidence that He’s eager to answer our requests. Therefore, why not cry out to get all those revelations which He declares that belongs to us?

In The Scriptures we can see that God has always listened to those who presented Him their petitions. Yet, on occasion, some of their outcries failed to be answered. That’s what eventually happened to Esau – on account of his profane attitude as he sold his birthright for a stew of lentils – whose repentance was not accepted even though he might have turned to Him with tears on his face (Genesis 27: 38).

King David understood that The Most High would certainly answer him as long as his cause was fair enough. So, The Spirit instructed him into writing that down for all children of God to know that – provided their cause is just, righteous – The Lord’s ears will be opened in their favour. As long as your petition follows that condition you can be sure that The Almighty will be favourable to you, but if it lacks righteousness it’ll be pointless for you to pray for it to be answered.

In the secular life a cause is considered righteous whenever a litigant has their right violated. Therefore, they can pursue legal action in the courts and the judge – once their notices of infraction are thoroughly examined and the due legal proceedings start – will decide if their plea is fair or not. In case their cause is righteous, the offended party will have their pleading judged in their favour. Now the party who started the lawsuit – the plaintiff – being aware of the fact that they are altogether unrighteous might ultimately attain a penalty as a litigant acting in bad faith.

As for the spiritual realm a cause is considered righteous whenever someone is granted revelations of The Word of God – only under such circumstance The Lord might answer favourably to such petition. It’s pointless for someone to make up incoherent ideas and carry on thinking that this or that situation should be this or that way and that they can keep on insisting on God to make decisions to favour their own heart’s desires. Therefore, if your request isn’t legally righteous our Father will never favour you. So, before deciding to say a particular prayer you must go to The Scriptures and see whether it’s backed up or not.

When someone cries out to The Most High for healing – provided their prayer has a biblical basis – they’ll certainly be heard. Nevertheless, if they don’t know that Jesus suffered all diseases – even those in their body – or they might be aware of it and yet their prayers aren’t backed up according to that fact – The Lord will not operate on their behalf. And the same goes to all the other blessings we urgently turn to God for.

There’s something else utterly important here to be taken seriously: one’s lips must never be fraudulent. Those who present their arguments based on lies will find out that they’re altogether ineffective when it comes to causing our Father to operate on their behalf. Yet, whenever your words are in accordance with The Word you must be sure that you’ll be answered positively. Lips which say the truth will always please The Lord.

In Christ, with love,
