Our fathers trusted in You; They trusted, and You delivered them. Psalm 22:4

Before the coming of Jesus, God spoke to the people by way of dream, visions, and what was written in the books, which later on would compose the Bible.  Today, however, He speaks to us by way of His Son through the revelation of His Word.  We must learn what has to be done so that the divine power will act in our favor, helping us in solving problems, just as it occurred in biblical days.  Then we will have even more reasons to glorify the Lord.

The patriarchs and heads of Hebrew families knew they should pray, and then trust, so that then their petitions would be answered.  All that serve God today should do likewise, since this record is a worthy example.  There is no magic in faith, but obedience to what the Most High shows and ordains us.  Those who do not consider the fact the Lord is God, and as such must be respected, when they are in distress, they will not have Him at their side.

A quick overview of the biblical reports leaves us with the impression that the servants of those days had a greater divine assistance than we have today and therefore were answered sooner.  However, this is not true, since they also went through moments of great anguish when it seemed as if God had abandoned them; but as they were obedient, they remained steadfast.  The reaffirmation of their trust, proves that they were not delivered immediately.

The author God used to write this psalm, which says a lot about what would happen to the Son of God at His coming, leads us to understand that those people didn’t obtain ready answers promptly.  However, remaining trustful they were delivered.  No doubt, this fact is a lesson for any of those who need deliverance from any problem.  The divine hand will never fail to operate in favor of those who place their faith in who is a Faithful Executor of His promises. (Hebrews 10:23)

Since the creation of Adam, the Omniscient made very clear the importance of believing in what He said, and that those who did not would certainly die.  This was exactly what happened to our first parents.  Later things became more serious since with the entry of Satan into our world his demons would do everything so that the people would no longer be blessed.  To this end, they would lead humanity to lose their trust in God.

In the parable of the widow and the unrighteous judge, Jesus said that that woman would always go to the door of that authority to ask for justice. On repeating this for several days, the magistrate was disturbed and so said to himself that although he didn’t fear God nor respect any man he would do justice to that lady that bothered him so much.  Consequently the Lord said we should observe that judge’s decision affirming that God would serve justice swiftly. (Luke 18:1-8)

They trusted but did not remain still. While they waited for justice to come, most certainly, they remembered the Lord about what they wanted every day; thus, they were certainly able to see where they were wrong. When Abraham told God that his servant would be Eliezer of Damascus, the Lord told him that He had no flaw whatsoever, for He was the Almighty God. Next, He taught the Hebrew patriarch that he should walk in His presence and be blameless (Genesis 15:2-4; 17:1).

God! This is how we know You, for, in all the Bible, we see that those who trusted in You were never let down. Many times, we think that we don’t have problems, but, when we persevere in prayer, we learn that they are numerous.

We shall trust in You at all times, so that Your work be done. Certainly, You will show us what we need to do so that You work in our favor. You are our Refuge, our Fortress and our Present Help in times of trouble.

What makes us prevail in prayer is the promise of Jesus that all we ask or determine in His Name will be done to us by Him. So, we are here to receive Your favor and we thank already give You thanks for it. Come deliver us and save us.
