14/04/2016 - THE SERVANT THAT DID MUCH FOR US

And it happened, before he had finished speaking, that behold, Rebekah, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, came out with her pitcher on her shoulder.  Genesis 24.15

Chosen by God, Abraham enjoyed doing the will of the Lord. When he felt that he should send one of his servants to his kinsfolk to get a wife for his son Isaac, the patriarch chose the oldest one, who was like the executive director of his house. However, before he called him to this very important mission, he made the man swear he would do just as he was being told. Only the Lord knows how long Abraham must have prayed until he received God´s permission.

His experienced and fearful servant thought like the patriarch and went along in the fear of the Lord. From Abraham, and now from Isaac, a family that would bless all mankind was being formed. The patriarch was not frivolous when he said the angel of God would go before his servant and that such young woman would be found, for he spoke by the Spirit. Thus, we should act like that in all that we do, because without respecting the directions of the Most High, we will sin by lying or for being hasty.

The mission was very special, and only those that walked in Spirit could fulfill it. The servant went on his way, knowing that God would be with him; otherwise, it would not be worth to follow a man carrying a pitcher of water, for he would not reach the upper room (Like 22:10-12). He would be released of such task if the woman did not want to follow him; then, it would have been her sin. No sinner is useful to the eternal work the Lord is doing on Earth.

The servant must work more in favor of God than his own personal interests. The person who does not pay attention to the Word of God and still adds or takes away something from it will not have the angel go before them. Complete submission is what is expected from the chosen of the Lord, or else the work will be done with flaws. Those who don’t believe in what the Father says miss out a lot. Those who choose the comfort of life will never struggle to fulfill a “crazy” plan, of a man advanced in age (Genesis 24:1).

Every step taken by that servant was in the fear of God. Most assuredly, that event was very beneficial to him. When he came to the city of Nahor, he prayer (Genesis 24:12-14), and before he had finished speaking, the Lord had already answered him. The best prayer is about what we hear from the Most High. He had agreed with the one who had the anointing, and the matter was settled. The faithful servant walks in the works that God prepares beforehand and he is greatly blessed.

He was not seeking just any woman, but the special one, prepared by the Lord (Genesis 24:16).  Everything happened just like Abraham said. The sequence of events proves that from the start, when Abraham made him swear, until the moment when Rebekah said yes and had her encounter with Isaac, that the divine hand was writing everything (Genesis 24:1-67). It must always be like that!

Have you been preparing yourself to come before God approved as a worker, which knows well the Word of Truth? This is the message of the Lord to the servants that will be blessed (Matthew 24:46).  If you were to be chosen for a similar task, would the work be done? Pray right now.

In Christ, with love,

Lord of the work! We have not been servants nor prepared ourselves to do Your will; therefore, we have failed in the missions You have given us. That old servant would not have been the blessing he turned out to be to mankind, if he had acted by the flesh, if he had been unfaithful, scared and lazy.

May we have learned the lesson and not play with the enemy anymore, nor despise the one You sent. The world needs Your children to be faithful, and all they need to worry about is to serve You, serve You and serve You. Then, we will be rewarded by You. Amen!

We are thankful for this servant who didn’t even have his name mentioned. Thank You for the assignment he received and fulfilled, and for Abraham being a respected master. The joy of Isaac is our joy, when You sent Your Spirit to guide in the conduct of Your will.
