The Lord has broken the staff of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers. Isaiah 14.5

On this study, I will use the New King James Version because it is clearer when showing the work done by Jesus through His death. When Adam was deceived by the devil’s lie, he gave the enemy the authority that he had received from God. Thus, the evil one started to use it to oppress humanity, influencing humans with evil and driving them to do what he desired. This state of things endured until the second Adam, the Lord Jesus, came to Earth and took this power away from the devil (Rm 5.6-21).

The heavenly plan included Satan’s defeat and man’s salvation, who would be reconnected to the divine presence and the communion with God. Since the Lord is holy, He only acts righteously. Thus, someone who had nothing to do with the devil should do this work. Since there was not even one righteous man, the Most High had to give His own Son in our place, not only dying because of our fall, but also suffering the penalty upon him.

Christ’s suffering began before Calvary. When He was arrested at the Gethsemane, He was taken to the roman authorities, and in a brief judgment, he received his death sentence on a cross. He was handed in to be whipped, and in those wounds on His flesh were placed all our infirmities and sicknesses. By His wounds, we have been healed. It pleased God to crush Him, so that we could be healed and saved (Is 53).

When Jesus was nailed to the cross, all our sins fell upon Him. At that moment, God turned His back on Him, and Jesus asked why the Father had abandoned Him (Mt 27.46). When He saw that everything was upon Him, and there was nothing left to pay in humankind’s account, He declared His worked consummated and then died. After this, Christ descended to Hell, and in the house of the devil, He broke the staff of the wicked and the scepter of rulers.

The devil no longer has the authority that he took from Adam. Therefore, he is not allowed to dominate those who have listened to the Gospel and surrendered their lives to Jesus. With his staff, he used to punish humans, but now, those who are born again are transported from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of Jesus (Cl 1.13). In Christ, they do not suffer from the attacks from hell and can live in peace and freedom forever.

The saved one is only afflicted by evil if they commit sin and do not repent. Now, after they confess their sin, God is faithful and righteous to forgive sins and purify them from all unrighteousness (1 Jo 1.9). When a servant of God sins, they destroy a wall of fire that protects them and they are bitten by a snake. Thus, you should no longer sin, but in case you fall into temptation, confess it to the Lord immediately, and if you did harm or dishonored someone, confess it to that person as well.

Whoever is in the Kingdom of God lives unworried and happy. Besides, they are victorious in all things. However, if they do not watch and pray, they can fall in temptation. If that happens, they can be attacked and defeated by the devil. What God had to do to save us has already been done and cannot be cancelled. Now, it is up to us to maintain our position of being freed and saved.

In Christ, with love,

God, our redeemer! Since we know what was done for us through the death of Christ, there is no reason for us to be influenced by the enemy. After all, Jesus broke the staff of wickedness and the scepter of the ruler.

Our redemption is trustworthy, so we cannot give in to the evil one’s plans. If we remain in Your Kingdom, we will be free from the authority of evil over us. Thank You for loving us in such a way. Hallelujah!

People must learn what has been done in their favor. Thus, they will not suffer under the devil’s will. Now, this does not come by a religion, but by the revelation of Your Word. How good it is to be free. Amen!
