Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt—on man, on beast, and on every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.” Exodus 9:22

The warnings were real.  God sent the hailstorm, thunder and lightning over Egypt, except over the land of Goshen.  Imagine how the wicked king’s heart became because in previous times what Moses had said had come to be. But why did the Pharaoh not have a change of heart and let the people go?  For the same reason that many sinners do not convert: they love to sin and so did the Pharaoh.

A good many of the king´s officers were prudent. They sheltered themselves in their homes and led their servants to do so as well.  However,  many must have been imprudent, not believing in what the man of God had said. So, when the hailstorm came down, they, their servants and their animals paid dearly with their lives.  Those who wait to see if the lake of sulfur and fire exist will be proven that it is for real.

When Moses raised his staff, the promise was fulfilled, for never had there ever been heard nor ever will there be a hailstorm – hail, thunder and fire to fall from the sky like in that day.  Everything God does is perfect and so if anyone tried to find shelter at the last minute under a tree they were completely destroyed. The Bible reports that even the trees perished (v.25) When Christ returns all matter will be melted and fused (2 Peter 3:10) There will be no escape. Beware!

All that was in the field was destroyed, not only the men but the animals, the herbs and plants and even all trees. When Christ returns no house will withstand and no stone will be left unturned.  Annihilation will be so totally complete that all will be fused by melting and nothing will keep its form or shape.  It is better to be prepared for that day so as not to be caught off guard or by surprise.  What will you do?

None of this tragedy happened in the territory of the Hebrews, according to the word of the Lord.  The day will come when the last trumpet will sound and the Son of God will descend from the sky with great fare and then nothing else will be possible. The saved will enter into Glory but the lost will be led to eternal suffering for not accepting the Lord Jesus as Christ the Savior and not repenting of their evil works. If Christ returned now what would happen to you?  Prepare yourself!

Pharaoh retreated, confessed his sin to Moses and recognized the righteousness of the Lord for what He did. The king even admitted that he and his people were wicked and lost. Immediately, he asked for the man of God to intercede and to stop the plague and promised to let the people of Israel go. Could Moses trust the king now?  Certainly not!  The Pharaoh was only looking for a way and a chance to hold on to the Hebrews.

Moses said that he would pray and peace would come, but he did not believe in the king’s word, and the plagues would continue to come.  The Pharaoh took long in learning the way and no matter how often he saw God’s works, he never repented and so he perished.

In Christ, with Love,

God of reprehension!  Your fatherly heart which above all is love, sees when man is a rebel and does not obey Your will.  In truth, there is no way not to heed You, because all You say is for our good.

Pharaoh paid You no respect and besides being evil, provoked You to the point where You sent him and his people the terrible plagues.  How many even today, have done the same being drawn by the lies and tricks of the devil and trapped into sin. Help them!

The king’s officers that were wise sought shelter in their homes and protected their livestock so they would not be destroyed.  Likewise those who seek shelter and protection in Christ will be spared on the Day of the Lord. Thank You for making us Your people.  Halleluiah!
