The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; The LORD shakes the Wilderness of Kadesh. Psalm 29:8

Those that are living in their spiritual wilderness can be certain that the voice of our God will shake it as they pray. All of us go through dry and arid moments, when seemingly there is nobody to hear or to help us, but He who saved us promises: never will He abandon us.  The Lord will hear your prayer, even if you don’t feel that your prayer has reached His ears.  It is wise and good to trust in God!

When Hagar was expecting Abraham’s baby, she began to belittle Sarah.  Then, on being admonished by her mistress, Hagar fled to the wilderness and stopped next to a fountain of water.  The Angel of the Lord caught up to her and told her to go back and humble herself to the patriarch’s wife and the Angel promised her concerning the child she was expecting, describing even how he was to live.  She called the Name of the Lord as the God who sees (Genesis 16:13), because she had looked to the One who saw her.  Halleluiah!

John the Baptist appeared preaching repentance. This was God shaking the wilderness at Kadesh with a message through his servant.  In that inhospitable place, multitudes would come to hear the divine message. The Almighty shook those who arrived from all places to hear what the Messiah’s forerunner had to say, about the One who would baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire.  Prepare yourself, because the Lord will shake the whole world soon.

John was so intensely used to deliver the message that the people asked themselves if he was the Messiah.  He did not take advantage of this to promote himself, but instead said that he was the voice of one crying in the wilderness.  The people of Jerusalem, Judea and regions surrounding the Jordan would go to him, confess their sins and this way be baptized by this servant of God.  He was not the phenomenon, but the Lord who shook the wilderness was.  As a servant, John did not seek glory for himself.  But he did announce the coming of the Savior.

The Almighty sent Phillip to that wilderness, and he went without questioning. He saw a carriage, and the Lord told him to approach it.  He soon noticed that a eunuch was reading from Isaiah the prophet.  Then, he understood the reason for that mission. Phillip asked the man if he understood what he was reading.  The man said that if he did not have someone to explain those contents, there was no way to understand the text.  Entering the car, Phillip led that sinner to salvation. Halleluiah!

The Lord only choses to use those who obey Him without question or doubt. The eunuch did not understand, but he soon learned concerning the Savior, believed and asked Phillip to baptize him. Providentially, there was a lake nearby. So, descending from the chariot, that servant baptized him and was soon raptured by the Holy Spirit.  This eunuch was the chief servant of Candace, Queen of Ethiopia, and was responsible for all her treasures and wealth and had gone to worship in Jerusalem. However he returned saved and baptized.

If you live in a dry wilderness like Kadesh, the sacred, or in a place and time without God or humans help, wait for the Lord to come and shake you.  Obey Him for in everything that He says there is a divine purpose.  Those who obey the Almighty will not stumble.  Amen?

In Christ, with Love,

God who shakes wildernesses! Hagar had to live that experience in order not to lose the blessing she had been given and to prepare herself to be mother to a brave and great people. We will never question Your commands for all of them are filled with wisdom.

We never saw and will never see that John the Baptist was reticent or resistant on being sent to preach in the wilderness.  To the contrary, he must have become overtaken with joy.  There he saw many people who sought You with hunger and thirst.  So, with Your wisdom, he took all of them to repentance.

Phillip did not question the orders he received. As Your servant and on Your instructions, he went to the eunuch who was reading from Isaiah.  The eunuch needed help in interpretation of what he was reading and by Your hands he was saved.  Thank You for using us and loving us, Father!
