07/12/2017 - THE WORDS OF YOUR MOUTH CAN BE HARMFUL

How long will you speak these things, and the words of your mouth be like a strong wind? Job 8:2

Job was in a difficult situation. From one moment to another, he received only bad news. At first, he lost his flock and his shepherds. Then, he lost his sons, and finally, he lost his health. Job acted correctly and protected his sons with his prayers, and at first, they were spared. Afterwards, however, a great harm afflicted them. Sometimes we see good people suffering great losses when apparently, there is no reason for so much.

As a servant of the Lord, Job did not accept that God was doing that to him. Back then, it was thought that good and evil came from the Most High. Many today still believe in this way, but Satan had the “authorization” from God to destroy Job’s life. The patriarch contended with faith, and even being advised by his wife to curse the Lord and die, he sought direction from high until he understood the reason why all of that was happening.

The Holy Scriptures declare that a curse without cause will not be fulfilled (Proverbs 26:2), but Job only realized this later (Job 3:25). Today, the revelation from the Lord has already been completed. Therefore, in the holy Book, whoever is under any trial will not only find the reason why that is happening, but will also find a safe way out of the devil’s dominion. Understand this: no suffering is a work from God, but from Satan.

The Lord had spoken about Job as an honest, righteous, God-fearing man that avoided evil. However, the devil got authorization to attack his goods, children, and health. In the end, when Job understood how to act in order to get rid of that diabolic situation and prayed for his friends, God not only healed him but also gave him back in double everything that the enemy had stolen from him.

When we are under any trial, we must avoid opening our mouths, in order not to speak worthless things. Bildad, Job’s friend, went to him and rebuked him because of his words. It is good to have friends who are in the Lord’s presence, who can guide us through Scriptures so we can understand the reason why some things are happening to us and who can pray in our favor. Bildad’s advice was a good one, and it serves for us as well.

Job should stop complaining and seek the Lord for the right guidance, in order to end that attack from hell. We should also never speak hastily. Our reasons must be safe in our hearts, after we listen and meditate in the revelation of the Word. If we do not have a clear direction from Heaven, then, the right thing is to keep our mouths shut.

For Bildad, Job’s words were like a strong wind, a hurricane that destroyed houses, crops, and people that were next to him. The words that come from the heart that meditated in God’s revelations have a much greater power against evil than those spoken hastily.

In Christ, with love,

Wise and righteous God! Through Job’s example, we learn that it is better to listen to You and do only what You guide us to. If we give space to the devil, we will pay the price. In the Name of Jesus, we ask for mercy and help against evil.

We do not want to profess words that harm us, that open the doors to the devil and let him vindicate a space to make us suffer. We desire to be before You and do only what is good.

Do not let us say vain things. After we listen to Your Word and are enlightened, we will speak like a true hurricane against the works of darkness, as we will have authority to sweep away the enemy’s arrows. Thank You for Your power!
