Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. Luke 2:8

If one of those shepherds that saw the greatest show in the world had stayed home or gone to another place, they would have missed the marvelous show carried out by the power of God.  It was the birth of the Messiah among us that was accompanied by great commemoration.  The reason for the celebration was that soon the head of the devil would be crushed and man could be liberated from the oppression which resulted from the sin at Eden.

Those who are given to any religion, after some time feel frustrated for not understanding the reasons that led them to lose the workings of God in their lives.  On the other hand, the religious leaders know that their practices are not able to liberate or free people.  Not knowing the Scriptures or the power of God they hide the Truth, lie or stop performing their rituals that don’t solve anything.  

The real shepherds of souls received the largest and most important mission of all that any religious people practice: to care for the eternal joy of people. They must strive to consecrate themselves to the Word in prayer, otherwise, they will not succeed in what they were charged with and one day, sooner or later, they will be called to accountability before God.

To disdain the care for the Good Shepherd’s sheep is one of the gravest errors committed by the Lord’s chosen.  They cannot punish these precious lives which belong to Jesus, but must care for them as the Master taught Peter (John 21:17). Great is the responsibility of the minister of the Word and the shepherd of His holy flock.  This position cannot be sought by those who lack the love to fulfill it.

Many predators prowl around mainly those who belong to the Lord’s fold.  God’s tasks to lead one to His Son and to have him understand the plan of salvation was enormous.  He entrusts the souls of such people to the care of the pastors for their spiritual growth and maturity.  Therefore, during these important times in the lives of these ministers, they should not leave the feet of Christ; so as not to be careless in their mission.

It is crucial that the shepherd guard His flock and keep it in protection.  On answering this call from the Lord, he received a special and exclusive anointment. So this must be exercised with the authority given him.  The shepherd was given unlimited access to divine power to emulate Jesus’s role model, who did not lose any one of those that were entrusted to Him.

The spiritual night we have to care for the flock reserves many dangers and risks for the sheep.  So during these times, those who were given the responsibility to care for these sheep must be alert and ready so that when God brings Jesus back they will rejoice supernaturally.  Halleluiah!
