21/03/2014 - THINGS THAT CORRUPT THE HEART

For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the Lord his God, as was the heart of his father David. 1 Kings 11.4

God allowed that every man could have a woman, and vice-versa. However, some consider it necessary to have more than one. Such a thing is madness in midst of God’s Israel – the Church. Jesus warned: woe to the man by whom the offense comes! (Mt 18.7b) If you offend someone in anything you do, you will be subject to eternal condemnation. Therefore, be sober and maintain yourself inside the limits of the Word of God.

The Most High allows us to be blessed enough, but the demon has convinced many people that they always need more. Then, in order to go after what they desire, these people do not seek the Lord, but accept Satan’s suggestion to act in a wicked manner. Now, if you feel that you need more, why don’t you make it a prayer request? Never tell the Lord what He should do! On the contrary, ask Him to tell you what you should do, and even if you feel that certain attitudes will do you no harm, do not move outside of the limits that the divine Word imposes.

On his attempt to deceive Jesus, the devil showed Him all the glory of the world and told Him that he would give it all if He fell down and worshipped him (Mt 4:9). Obviously, the Lord did not accept. If you say yes to the enemy’s proposal, it will ruin you! The demon wanted to deceive the Master because he knew that one day he would lose everything he stole from Adam. In the same way, whatever the enemy proposes you will only be deception. Maintain yourself faithful until the end, and your reward will be much greater (Rv 2.10).

Whoever does not want to get to the end of his days in the same condition as Solomon must obey the divine commandments. God had forbidden the sons of Israel to marry with women outside of His people. Solomon, however, thought that the prohibition did not count for him. After all, God had made him the wisest man on earth (1 Kg 3.3-13). It is not good to transgress any of the divine orders, not even the smallest of them.

What type of person has the devil made you feel you are like? Do you feel you are the master of your life or a servant of God? It does not matter what you judge yourself to be. Know that one day you will be called to pay account of your stewardship. What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul (Mk 8.36)? Live in a way that Satan is not able to take you away from the path that the Father determined for you to trail.

If Solomon had remained faithful to what the Most High tells us all, he would not have been committed to the foreign women to the point of letting them corrupt his heart. With how many “women” have you married? In your life, foreign women may mean things outside the divine permission, but that you have consented in your heart. There is still time to repent. What about returning, right now, to the path of obedience?

In Christ, with love,
