But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6

What characterizes a humble heart is submission to the Lord. Lazy Christians believe that there are things that can be solved without divine help. These Christians are just like the wicked people, who have not yet learned how to seek for strength and direction for their problems in the Creator. Those who are really humble make the Lord the first in their lives, and in all situations, seek from Heaven the green light to advance and to act.

The humble ones are known for giving God the glory that’s already His own. They are not taken away by the feeling that there are moments in which they do not need heavenly help, because they know that with this help they can overcome any battle. The lazy ones don’t even realize how many times simple things defeat them. To stumble is a normal thing to them; however, the Word of God says that those who trust in Him do not stumble (Psalm 119:165).

Another characteristic of humble people is that they are always where they should be. They don’t complain, they don’t criticize, and they’re always optimistic about what the Lord is showing to them. When the enemy tempts these people, they don’t give him attention, because they’re focused on fulfilling the divine purpose for their lives. So the Lord gives these people more grace, more healing, more of His Spirit. That’s why we should always act as servants, because that is one of the main characteristics of those who are humble.

There’s nothing better for a humble servant than to fulfill what the Lord established for him or her. A humble servant does not seek his own glory, for he knows that the author of his victory is the Lord Almighty. Because of that, even though the malign one tries to tempt him, he doesn’t fall easily. Things always seem to go well to those who serve God, because even if someone is doing a bad thing against them, they will always see an opportunity of improving.

Those who honor the Lord receive more from Him (Prov. 3:9, 10). Therefore, you should always obey what has been said to you, and this way you will never be abandoned or feel sad. Even if no one knows what you are doing for the Lord, He is watching you, and on that great day He will reward you. The truth is that we are nothing without God’s good hand operating on our behalf (John 15:5).

You don’t need to ask the Father what he expects from you, because He has already said that through the Holy Book. Therefore, you should obey whatever God reveals through His Word. This way you will be giving Him the joy of seeing you as a humble and obedient servant. He promised to concede honor to this kind of son or daughter, those who put His will in first place. The Lord has more grace to give to those who obey His commandments.

In Christ, with love,
