And Asa cried out to the LORD his God, and said, “LORD, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O LORD our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude. O LORD, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You!”

II Chronicles 14:11

The faith that King Asa had in the Almighty was genuine. In fact, for him, the Lord was his God. Those who have no commitment with the Almighty are doing wrong, for when they need His help they won’t be able to count on it. Nobody is perfect, but the more we approach perfection, the better for us. He who trusts cries out to God – instead of complaining and telling everyone how much they are suffering – and as a result they always win the battles.

Before the battle described in the verse quoted above, Asa had shown signs of weakness in faith. However, prior to that he had done what was right before God and, by doing so, peace and prosperity came to his land. However, he was led astray by temptation and prepared for the day when peace would be taken away and the enemy would appear. As his soul had imagined, so it happened. Finally, he only won that battle because he remembered the Almighty and cried out to Him.

Unless the Lord is your God, you will not have faith to cry out for help before an onslaught of the wicked one. Probably the trial that is over the lives of many members of the Body of Christ came about because of simple actions such as, for example, foolish words or some thoughtless acts. When Asa saw himself in danger he cried to the Lord and it was not in vain. He cried out by saying what he knew about the Word.

By stating that in order to get the Lord’s help it doesn’t matter whether man has a lot or no power at all, the king recognized his error. It is good and very productive to understand what the Almighty speaks. He is so wondrous that even in the hour of battle, in a split second, He shows us what we did or failed to do for the enemy to come with all his fury against our life. You’d better acknowledge your mistake and beg the Lord for forgiveness and also for His help.

Then, in his prayer to the Holy Spirit, the king confessed his trust in the Lord. The perfect prayer is when we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us – which is not difficult but it must be done from the heart. As we pray, we must divest ourselves of our preconceived ideas and upon feeling we did something wrong, we must ask God’s forgiveness immediately, always following the guidelines that God will give our heart.

King Asa confessed he would go against that gigantic crowd in the Name of the Lord. Thus, he did not lose the battle! Who will be defeated by fighting with faith in the Lord’s Name? He who has the Almighty as his God leads the enemy to despair because he will have to face the One who has all power and will never be defeated.

No man, sickness, demon or hellish power shall prevail against our God. Therefore, fight in the Name of the Lord and your victory is guaranteed!

In Christ with love,

R. R. Soares
