And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent. Luke 16:30

The rich man of the parable told by Jesus was a successful man in the secular world, but he did not do his best to also be wise to the Lord. This is a great threat that haunts the people of God: the desire to be rich. We must remember that love for the Money is the root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10). Those that want to improve their relationship with the Heavenly Father must know the divine will and carry it out. Seek to fulfill yourself in the faith in Jesus and you will never be confused.

One of the signs that a person is lost is the “victorious” way they handle the matters of this life, prospering without the help of the Lord, having or finding explanations for their actions. When a Christian is applauded as a winner by other people, especially those from the world, this shows that their fellowship with God is quite weakened. Strive to never get lost in the deceitfulness of riches, in the cares of this world and the desire for other things (Mark 4:19).

The inhabitants of Canaan, before Israel dominated that land, were successful regarding the things of the world, but they were great sinners before the Most High and that is why they were taken away from that land. There is nothing wrong with being prosperous in your material life or your intellectual life, as long as these things are not the goal of your heart. To do the will of the Creator is one million times better than any human success. Make this choice!

See the example of Sodom and the surrounding cities. They managed a great progress, but the abundance of bread caused their inhabitants to forget about God and commit filthy, disgusting sins. Why do what the Lord condemns? In the case of Sodom, when the judgment of God came upon that city, its inhabitants and their riches were destroyed by the fire and brimstone out of the heavens (Genesis 19:24). Be careful not to get lost!

The rich man mentioned by the Master knew the Scriptures, but had no understanding about what they meant. So, he had the nerve to want to teach Abraham the correct way to save his brothers. If you wish to succeed with the Omnipotent, then submit yourself to the Bible and reject what your heart tells you (Jeremiah 17:9); thus, you will see that the Lord is right in His teachings. You are responsible for your decisions!

Observe the preachers that divide or create their own churches. They rebelled by not listening to the Almighty and seeking their own interests. How will they stand before the Lord of the Church on the last Day? Will their excuses be accepted by the Omniscient, or will they convince Him that their plan was better than the heavenly plan?  Mercy! Whoever follows or helps a rebel will be responsible for their mistake and will pay for that same mistake (Leviticus 5:1).

Lazarus did not get upset with what God told him, but he sought to seek salvation in the Most High and he was comforted. This is your time to get ready for eternity! Don’t give in to sin or greed, nor to the other errors; after all, if you are obedient to the very end, you will be blessed with eternal happiness – the crown of life (Revelation 2:10). It is worth it! You can be happy for the rest of eternity.

In Christ, with love,

God, our comforter! We ask for mercy so that we don’t let ourselves be driven away by the offers of the world because we must be wise for eternal life. Help us to live by Your Word, not the teachings of the world. We need to be rich towards You and Your servants.

May we always respect Your will, for we don’t want to follow the principles and standards of this world. We know that only You have the words of eternal life; thus, we reject any worldly philosophy that lead many to get lost in a life full of pleasures.

What good did it do to the Canaanites and other peoples to be successful in the things of the world, if they were subverted?  We want to understand Your purpose; thus, we will be by Your side forever. May we receive the heavenly Bread every day. Thank You!
