03/04/2017 - WHAT IS A COMMANDMENT FOR?

Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith. 1Timothy 1:5

For our benefit, the Lord created commandments and ordered us to keep and obey them. They are divided into two categories: negative and positive. These are also divided into the general (common to everyone) and the personal (when some people are called into special missions). The negative kind refer to what is forbidden like stealing, adultery, etc. The positives one are the promises made to us which become obligations.

By giving us His precepts, the Lord seeks our happiness and as we obey them we show and prove our love for God. This way, He can love us – have and fulfill what He promised.  Jesus said: He who loves me will be loved by my Father and I will love him and will manifest myself to him (John 14:21) Can there be anything better?

Besides this we will have the love of a pure heart. It is obvious that the Lord purifies the interior of those who perform His will. In fact according to Jesus, he who has a clean heart will see God (Matthew 5:8). This is conditioning to rise up on the mountain, be in the holy place and receive a blessing (Psalm 24:4,5). No doubt, to be rid of evil is sufficient to live well.

Many people cannot free themselves from something that accuses them day and night, and though they try hard, they haven’t a moment of peace. They ask themselves: why did I give myself to commit these errors. Unfortunately they didn’t learn the simple and easy way to free themselves from evil doings, consequently some live very ill others live miserably.

The obedient not only live free from pain in their conscience, but also live the feeling of having done only good things. This way they are able to believe the Lord’s words and make His determinations become fulfilled. In addition, God hears them and answers them willingly. All is just a question of attention and obedience to the divine orders. The profit is only ours!

Another virtue resulting from obedience to His commandments is a faith that is not feigned but operative. We can’t believe in God and at the same time not have a powerful faith. No sadder thing than to be attacked by any evil and not be freed from it. Behind bad circumstances there is an evil spirit. But with real true faith we always win.

In light of all this we must ask the Father for His orders so we can be victorious. On the other hand, who knows what to do but doesn’t is a candidate to be visited and to be destroyed by the devil. To do God’s will is too good!

In Christ, with Love,

Father! Why would we ignore Your commandments if they do us so much good?  We must know our mission because we do not want to be irresponsible nor pay the price for rebellion.

We pray for those who have not submitted to You. This person may not know it but this disobedience opens the possibility for the enemy to attack them. Even if he prays constantly, he will not be delivered from the evil caused by the devil.

Help us to understand You and to obey so our hearts can be free from evil, our consciences free from guilt and we can have a productive faith. This way we will be able to say, truly You are good.
