And he said, “What have they seen in your house?” So Hezekiah answered, “They have seen all that is in my house; there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them.”

Isaiah 39.4

We are fighting a war against evil forces, which will come to an end only when Jesus comes back; when he, with the breath of His lips, shall slay the wicked (Isaiah 11.4). That is why it is good that you keep the directions God has given you, because this provokes a mix of jealousy and envy from the enemy; after all, “Babylon”, despite being far away, desires our treasures. God is much more valuable than all riches in the world, so follow the guidance he has given you.

The distance separating the kingdom of God from hell is big. However, in order to remove us from God’s presence, or to steal our treasures, the father of lies sends his servants from a far away land. The enemy knows what we value the most and, when tempting us, he goes after our weaknesses. The Word says, “Let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall” (1Corinthians 10.12). The slightest distraction is enough to make us stumble.

The miracle Hezekiah received was a glorious one. In fact, everything the Lord does for us is amazing and glorious. Everyone heard about the healing of the king, because, besides the miracle itself, the Lord gave a sign that made the universe stop and go back in its trajectory. Time went backwards, as the sun returned ten degrees on the dial by which it had gone down (Isaiah 38.8). In today’s time system, this corresponds to 40 minutes.

Everywhere people felt as if time had gone backwards. As soon as the news about the healing arrived, the king asked the prophet that time would retrocede as a sign. And the devil saw an opportunity to find out what there was in Israel; so he sent his ambassadors to “congratulate” Hezekiah for the blessing he had received.

Because the king made a mistake (to show what he owned), prophet Isaiah reprimanded him. May this be a lesson for us, because if we show our enemy the “treasures” we have received from the Lord during our walk with him, the devil will try to steal them from us. Jesus tells us to watch and pray so that no one may take away our crown.

Most divine revelations teach us to have a relationship with our heavenly Father, as well as prepare us to face any attacks from the evil one; that is why we must keep them as our treasures. Let us not cast our pearls before swine (Matthew 7.6).

In Christ, with love,
